Simon & Schuster Mega Crossword Puzzle Book #15 (S&S Mega Crossword Puzzles)

Great crossword puzzle book. This is my 4th in the series. Generally very clever puzzles, many with themes. Many of the clues have either multiple possible answers or double entendre's that make you dig for the right one. The puzzles tend to shy away from answers that would require a crossword puzzle dictionary, a friend with a PhD degree in some esoteric field or Google. After all, if a puzzle requires using any of the three former "help-mates", what would be the point of doing the puzzle in the first place? Nope, these many times require innovative and sometimes out of the box thinking. Yes there are a few clinkers but the vast majority of the 300 puzzles are enjoyable indeed. And if you do them in ink it adds that much more to the flavor. Enjoy!

These puzzles are just the right challenge level for me. They do vary in difficulty, which keeps me on my toes I guess. And, I tear out the pages and put them on a clipboard so they lay flatter. They teat out of the book very well.

I like this book. The puzzles are fun. I enjoy the perforated pages for easy tear-out as I work my puzzles on a clipboard. I also appreciate that the puzzles include their titles which is often helpful in solving the clues. Some puzzle books I've purchased have omitted the puzzle title.

Some don't challenge the solver, at all. They're mostly at the beginning of the book. Then there a few puzzles with clues that made this solver sit up and say, "Wait, WHAT?" When the puzzle was finished, the solution had nothing to do with the clue. Ow, well ... Otherwise, it's a nice compilation of medium to difficult crosswords.

I've been doing these crossword puzzles for years. I really enjoy that they are easily separated from the book and I can put a few in my purse for when I get out somewhere with a few spare minutes. They are mind challenging. I actually am working my way through all of them for the third time. Keeps my old brain charging.

This is the 10th such book in the series I have purchased. I am a dedicated "Cruciverbalist" (Crossword nut) and this series, Edited by John Samson and published by Simon and Schuster, is my favorite. Challenging and fun!! Not for the beginner and not for the crossword snob who thinks the ONLY challenge comes from the NY Times Sunday puzzle. I'll be ordering #16 as soon as I finish the 300 puzzles in #15. These puzzles are medium to slightly difficult. The perforated pages allow me to tear them out and make copies on our printer so the whole family can do the same one at once. We do three puzzles each day. Family time away from the TV.

I love that the pages can be torn out on the perforations, so I don't have to carry the whole book if I go out. The pages are clean and don't leave my hands dirty as some other books have done.
