Never run extension cords under carpets. It can overheat and excess walking on can cause it to short out and risk a fire..

Can this be safely used with a space heater?

This is a 2-prong plug, not a grounded 3-prong plug. Meant for lighter duty needs. I would not use it for a space heater. And if your space heater doesn't have a 3-prong plug, you may want to get rid of it.

I see this is 2 prongs for what you plug into the actual extension cord but does it need a 3 prong outlet to plug into? I have a 2 prong outlet.

Most electrical devices have three prongs for proper grounding. This item does not provide 3 prongs. It only has two prongs which does not provide the grounding required. Therefore, you will NOT be able to use a 3-prong device with this cord. It will not allow you to plug in a 3 prong into a strip with only two prongs. 🥺😵💫🤔

Can this be used outdoors?

Though I don’t know for sure, my guess would be no, it definitely looks like an indoor cord to me
