I purchased both the "small" and the "jumbo". Because of this, I don't really see the purpose of the "jumbo" version, all it does is take up more space in the kitchen.Regarding the negative reviews, I agree that the press is rather flimsy, and I tightened some of the screws myself. BUT, I don't think a tostonera needs to be very strong -- pressing once-fried plantains is very easy. So, I would say it is constructed according to its purpose. The press would probably break very quickly if you used it to press raw, unripe plantains, but that's not the intended use.

It worked exactly as I had expected it. Unfortunately the screws on the hinges were very short and came out after the first few times of using it. I replaced with screws that were a little longer and thicker and I haven’t had a single issue yet. I use the product very often and it works well!

Terrible quality. do not buy this item. the screws were loose and it came apart before i could even use it
