My mother had bilateral knee replacement surgery, and this was one of the equipment I was told to purchase. It was easy to install, feels very comfortable, and sturdy. The thickness holds up weight well, it does not bend. It fits over the bowl perfectly and stay in place using the dial at the front. The handles even though they are plastic they hold up well when using them to stand up. Perfect design. It has been several months since surgery, and it is still in use and holding up well.

If you have an elderly relative (or friend) who visits you, then you REALLY need to get something like this, which essentially raises the level of the toilet seat, gives them something easier to sit on. My Mom has one at her place, in Philly, and one at our place, in Maine, when she visits. I keep it in the basement and bring it out when she's coming.

With upcoming hip surgery I wanted be fully prepared.. perfect height and handles give me stability for easy on and off.

I've seen complaints about this seat either not fitting the bowl correctly or people having trouble sitting on it because its narrow. So, I am a female, size 16, hips are probably 42 - 44. I sit on the seat fine, with the handles installed. The problem is when its time to clean up, there is no room to "move around". So I removed one handle and when I sit I put my hand on the seat and the other on the handle... problem solved. Just as a side comment, I have two bad knees so it's hard to get up and down. I am using the seat now and will need after knee replacement. Hope this helps anyone needing an elevated seat.After using this seat for several months, I have to downgrade from 5 to 3 stars. I kept smelling "P" wondering why was this odor not going away even after a thorough cleaning. Turns out it was leaking out of the seat down onto the floor and under the toilet. Sorry Vaunt, your seat design needs to be redesigned. This seat is going to the trash heap.

Perfect when I was recuperating from a hip replacement. I no longer need it, but if I ever need another, I’ll have it. Would also be good if caring for an infirm person.

Very sturdy once attached to the toilet.Raised the height making it less of a drop to sit down.The rails offered a safer and much sturdier sit down. The rails allow for a stronger balance when going down to sit. They also aid the same whenstanding up.Don't worry about messy drops. We all poop. The circumference of the opening allows for a clean drop. The only thing you will be cleaning each time you poop is your behind.You don't need a medical reason to use this product. This is great for elderly or anyone needing to raise the height of your toilet and add extra support for balance. I used it and found it very useful myself. I suffer with back issues and found it more comfortable to sit and stand up from the toilet. It took a lot of pressure off my back from where I suffer from. A great deal of pain.
