Can't go wrong with this little workhorse! Great for small jobs and nice thoughtful features.
I'm diggin my new mixer. I gave my little 5 speed hand mixer to my son who just got his own place. I had that for 30+ years and it is still looking new and going strong. For a lot of things, you just can't beat Kitchen Aid! Since I went over to his house and it is sitting in a cabinet above the refrigerator (what was I expecting??) I was going to see if he wanted me to keep it here for him (wink), but decided to just get myself another one. I got this candy apple red 9 speed- it doesn't really match anything else in the kitchen but it was too cute and won't be on the counter anyway. I'm also getting away from trying to have everything match an aesthetic. Just getting what I like these days becuase, well, life it short and I want things that make me smile. OK, on to the real review. This little machine has some killer features. I really appreciate the extra tools including the small blender rod and the dough hooks for smaller jobs - I wish the blender rod was also all stainless but this may be designed this way for a reason with plastic, not sure. I have a stand tilt head mixer but sometimes for a small job, this gets it done with less fuss. Other thoughtful features, the lowest speed is LOW and SLOW, so you can start it very slow and not have flour go flying everywhere - that is bomb. I also appreciate the storage bag for the tools, the pivoting cord (you can stand the mixer up and pivot the cord to any side to orient it to where your plug is), and the cord has a silicone wrap. This is easier to store than my older one, looks adorable and feels very sturdy. It is a little bit heavier than my old mixer(not much) but thought I'd mention that in case dexterity/mobility is an issue for some. This may be due to the heavier motor with more speeds.Overall a great purchase. It did come with a tiny imperfection in the silver band around the unit. I just kept running my thumb over it and magically it smoothed out. I am one of those people who'd rather stick a needle in my eye than do a return, so glad this worked. One of the little beaters was a little sticky ejecting the first few times. Just did it a few more times and it self corrected. Cool this is US made in their Ohio factory. Always an added bonus. Thanks again Kitchen Aid -

It's the little things
I had an inexpensive hand mixer for about 15 years. It worked great. Then I tried to mix some room temperature butter and the poor thing's motor just gave out. So I purchased this.Mostly I thought it would be nice to have different attachments that the old mixer didn't have. And that worked out to be great. Plus, my mom's big Kitchen Aid bowl mixer has lasted 50 + years.I used it to mix some Costco peanut butter (with the oil on top) - fantastic. No mess, easy to do, fast and easy to clean. For other normal things like cake mixes - cheap mixers work fine. But the Kitchen Aid has 2 seemingly inconsequential features that made me want to write this 5 star review.First was the little cloth bag that holds all the attachments. No longer do I have to look through my drawer of kitchen gadgets to find the second mixing attachment ... or in the case of my new mixer - the other attachments. The second feature which I found to be brilliant, is the silicone cord wrapper. It makes wrapping and unwrapping the wire cord fast and easy. This mixer also feels like it too will last a life time.

Quiet, Powerful, ideal mixer.
Love KithenAid's noticeable quality difference versus the competitors. Solid build but not heavy or clunky, love the attachments. Best features are ergonomics and very quiet. A+ product.

works great for sourdough bread
The media could not be loaded. *ONE YEAR UPDATE*I've had this for over a year now. I use it at least once a day for breads, cookies, crackers, goat cheese (we eat a lot of goat cheese) and it's still working just as well as day one. I don't use it on bread dough a ton as I feel like it was getting too thick for the motor to handle; thankfully there's been no damage. I've had my five and seven yr olds use it as well. The dough hook is AMAZING for mixing peanut butter, it's really a life changer in that regard. I have to say I'm a huge fan.**************I was gifted a Kitchen Aid stand mixer when I got married, in fact, my mom said that she was holding on to it for my wedding day. So I found the first guy I could and married him so I could get the stand mixer. I used it basically everyday as I have to do a lot of cooking from scratch for my food-sensitive family. After 9 years of blissful dough mixing, my stand mixer broke. I was devastated. I had to start mixing bread dough by hand. Like a pioneer (1st world problems, I know). Knowing that I would have been the worst pioneer ever, I told my husband that we really needed to replace the mixer. Even after looking at tons of Black Friday deals, they were just too expensive for us at this point in our lives. We then started looking into hand mixers as a temporary fix for some of the un-breadly mixing needs. And then I realized that these things have dough hooks. I scoured the internet looking for reviews about the hand mixer dough hooks and most people have never even used them. I like to live dangerously so I talked my husband (of 9 happy years now) into getting me this mixer instead of the more expensive stand mixer. The day this arrived I used the dough hooks. They really helped with the annoying initial mixing of the bread dough which was always the worst part. It took it to a great point where I could just hand knead the dough the rest of the way. It’s a little therapeutic, I guess. They were really easy to clean off, too. The dough mostly came off on its own and the little bits at the end easily slid off. I gave them a quick wipe and rinse and they were good to go. These dough hooks are great if you are looking for a less expensive way to help out with your dough making and you don’t mind just a little hand kneading at the end.I included a video of the consistency of the sourdough after just a couple of minutes of mixing. It was pretty sticky at that point, but about a minute after that it was ready for hand kneading.I make my dough at night after my children are in bed, one bonus of this mixer is it is not loud at all. It’s way more quiet than my original Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I could still hold a conversation with my husband in the next room as I mixed.I have used the mixer multiple times now for various foods and it has been wonderful. It’s easy to clean the parts and storage is ok in the bag. I would have preferred the plastic container storage that the other leading brands have, but I’ll deal with it.This was everything I need right now at just a fraction of the price of a stand mixer.
