This Gluten Free Sourdough starter is great for a sourdough beginner! This packet comes with detailed instructions on how to get your sourdough starter going and after following the instructions, I had an active sourdough starter within 5 days! This was after 6 months of trying to start my own. My only regret is not trying Captian Sourpants starter earlier! This not only made a great starter, but also was able to make great bread from it. This starter is also easy to keep going and doesn't die easily.

I’ve used this twice as I had to remake my starter after a long vacation left my starter moldy when I got home. Highly recommend, so much easier to create a gluten free starter with this.

I bought this for my husband who is gluten free, with very little hope of it working. I’ve tried making a starter multiple times to no avail. First try with this and we have a VERY healthy, extremely active starter. So far we have made two loaves of delicious bread. (It’s purple due to the psyllium husk in the bread recipe we used, not due to anything with the starter). So excited to finally be able to play around with sourdough!

Fell asleep when I was suppose to feed 2nd feeding at 12 hour mark, fed at 16 hours, and the dough started bubbling. That’s a good sign to me. Very clear directions although I did have to add a tad extra water at my first feeding to get the dough to a thick pancake batter like consistency from a cookie dough crumb consistency.

It takes some effort but it’s worth it.

Followed instructions to the letter and didn’t work at all. Not satisfied with it at all.

Following the very clear instructions I started my glutton free sour dough starter 3 days ago and so far it is doing beautifully…can’t wait to bake my first loaf of glutton free sourdough! Thank you Captain Sour Pants!

This product seemed to work well at first. I was able to create a good starter from it that lasted about 2 weeks. Once I made some pancakes with it, I got a headache afterwards. I am highly sensitive to gluten cross-contamination and get either migraines or digestion issues. I tried the pancakes again the next day and had a headache again. I’m not sure if there were some wheat particles in the starter or if it was just a fluke. I tossed the entire starter just in case. I didn’t like the brown rice flour taste anyways and decided to start a new one on my own completely from scratch, which was fine.
