180, Awesome Spartan Sword For The Money
Arrived exactly as pictured with some surface rust, slathered in oil.Only the bottom front of the blade ( projected ) is sharpened.Full-tang measurement, as shown in review pics elsewhere, is 5mm.Handguard appears to be 6mm, grip/handle appears to be 5mm plates on each side of tang, wrapped in leather ( I've not completely investigated handle construction details- results may vary ).Based on quality, I plan on cleaning, stripping, and Zinc Phosphate parkerizing ( medium gray ), and replacing leather with antler ( doing myself ).It is a really nice short sword, made with great steel, of solid construction. The leather sheath, although nice, seems light compared to the sword itself- but no reason for poor reviews, however reason for a possible future saddlery project. This is not a machete; name it, treat it, it should last.Although very robust, it feels light in the hand, and should contribute efficiency and effectiveness. There are inexpensive practice swords of similar design, on Amazon, of accurate feel, that will keep you out of the Emergency Room.

Pretty good…pretttttty gooood
It’s real, and it’s pretty damn decent!I’ve got a 15-acre lot, and I bought this because it looked like it’d be a heavy-duty machete. Also it looks cool. It’s all of the above, but it’s definitely no replacement for a machete lol. This thing’s heavy and chunky af, made from hardened steel (standard mangalloy). Between its heft, and the long handle, it will cleave through bushes and cut off branches with little effort. That said, the handle is wrapped with a thin leather, that will sock-in moisture and eventually cause rust. So strip that off first thing. And if you don’t treat this more like a weird axe, you’re going to be in a world of pain. It’s *sharp.* Heavy and sharp.

quality
Cuts clean straight out the box, the leather smells amazing, pre-oiled, an excellent addition to any ren faire attendee's garb, or just mount and admire. This is a real weapon, weighty and sharp, exactly what I was looking for.Any gripes you read about the handle aren't untrue but for this price you can easily rent a Dremel from home depot to make the grip as comfy as you need for your purposes.I do plan on getting a local leathershop to custom fabricate a flintlock & sword dual holster so its current home will do for now before its debut ren faire exhibition.i am a real person, the narwhal bacons at midnight and all that jazz

good price its unrefined blades good style weapons
decent price unrefined so sanding and polishing would be needed if you want it to be shiny it does look like it does in the picture with the shlack and stuff still on the metal i bought the short polearm i love the design and it did come ready to be sharpened but it is dull thats not why i took star off tho i took a star off because my blade is not straight about 1/4 of the tip end of the blade it deviates off course

TL;DR Well made sword came exactly as described can be used came with a straight blade
The sword with hand guard is exactly as described, and can handle some medium to light work its clearly made with at least some attention to craftmanship and a straight/sharpish blade, is it mass produced? Yes. Is it cream of the crop? No. But I can tell you its nice enough to enjoy handling it, looking at it, and to some extent usage. Its a good beater blade and was worth the money paid.

Great for the money but not perfect
So this blade caught my eye because it's very similar in design to the zombie tools d'capitan. It's kind of like a mix between their old design and their new design. Their current design at zombie tools is 5 oz lighter at 2 lb and 4 oz, while this sword is 2 lb and 9 oz. The point of balance is about 5 in away from the guard which isn't bad especially for a Cutlass. However I feel like it would be better if they did what zombie tools does which is at a grind that removes material or if they put a fuller into it. I know I'm asking a lot for the price point, however I feel as though it's not a huge ask. The blade maintains the same thickness throughout, which is great for durability not the best for handling and cutting performance. The blade is thick and you can see where the plunge grind starts it leaves a very thick ricasso which I feel fits the blade It doesn't start becoming sharp until 2 in above the initial grind. The blade is sharp enough to cut bottles but you won't be having cuts that leave the bottle standing. My main gripe with this sword is the grip...it's just a rectangle. Meaning that while they chamferred the corners they didn't round the corners out. So all four points of the grip are digging into your hand even in gloves. The faux leather wrap or whatever this wrap is, is decent at cushioning but the hard metal rectangle is just uncomfortable. I wish they stated what kind of steel they used, not just manganese steel, as manganese is used in many types of steels. So far I haven't had any durability issues although I haven't cut into anything besides water bottles. Actually while writing this review I accidentally barely tapped the edge on a glass entertainment unit and it completely flattened the very thick edge. While I am quite aware that was my fault and glass is very hard, I've had much thinner edges hold up too much worse. It does make me question what kind of steel they're using and how the heat treatment is done. While the point of balance is 5 in from the guard it feels like it's even further, And in such a short blade at being only 27" in the blade It can feel as though the point of balance is further out. It came with a toothy edge and rough grinding which was to be expected from this. Now it may seem like I don't like the sword...that's actually far from the truth! It is fun and if you plan on making it maybe a project sword I would recommend buying it I plan on grinding down the corners and rewrapping the handle I don't believe I'm skilled enough to put a fuller in this blade or add distal taper to it. It is more akin to a cross between a giant knife, a machete, with some attributes that make it feel like a sharpened crowbar. Can you move this blade like a sword? Yes you can! Does it take a lot of effort? Yes it does! But again you're getting this for under $100 so all you can hope for is a durable piece and if you want the real thing then go by a zombie tools d'capitan. However since I'm usually more into historical pieces, I will be fine with this as my venture into this genre. The sheath fits it very well but it's nothing to really write home about. All in all if you're just wanting this to be something fun for when you go camping or just mess around in your backyard you can't go wrong for the price. Things I would say to the manufacturer is read my review, Make the grip more comfortable, add a little bit of distal taper or some effort to make it feel like a sword, and Make the grind go higher up onto the blade. However, for individuals who enjoy really thick pieces of steel that should perform well on hard targets then this might be what you're looking for. It is a little wrong that they are stealing designs from zombie tools however this is common. And I guess you could say shame on me for purchasing it.
