COOLINA Promaja Knife – Carving, BBQ, Meat Cutting, Slicing, Butcher & Chef Knife – Essential Kitchen Tool

The Coolina Altomino Chef's Knife was something I'd wanted to try after several failed attempts at searching for a decent chef's knife in this configuration.The knife is sharp-sharp-sharp and holds an edge for quite a while. It does especially well with fruits and vegetables (my primary use for chopping/dicing), but also handles meats well if they are mostly defrosted yet can provide a little resistance when slicing through the meat. (I usually slice chicken or pork with the Coolina, it does well for either application.)If the edge dulls a little, be sure to use a quality 2-step knife sharpener that "cures" the edge, then hones it to razor-sharpness. It's wise that once you've finished with the knife that you rinse it with dish soap and water, then dry it immediately and wipe the exposed blade with a paper towel and a little olive oil, then wipe again with a dry paper towel to remove any residual oil. Doing so prevents rust.This product is not stainless-steel, but forged-hardened steel that will rust if neglected. Best to store this either in its cloth bag, or on a magnetic knife strip attached to your kitchen wall.

I like the fact that this is made on an old fashion style. It’s a HEAVYWEIGHT Cleaver, like what my grandfather used to use, very well-made, and very beautiful craftsmanship.A VERY STRONG Knife.I will be getting a complete collection of Coolina Knives over time and having these in my kitchen for all my cutting needs.I do not know if they offer Military Veteran discount. As of this review, it would be nice to know.I also have high end kitchen knives from Japan that have been excellent over the years and have never failed me and have always been sharp holding an excellent edge.The Coolina knives are Very Nice,Strong,and High End Blades with Excellent Value without the very high end price tag.

Gave as a gift to the 2 gentlemen chefs in my family and they are thrilled with how easily it cuts and slices everything..from steaks to vegetables and on and on. Can’t say enough about the quality of the knife and the prompt response to questions….outstanding customer service. Very impressed with this company. I read a bunch of reviews complaining about the cleaver being too dull and not sharp. Keep in mind it's a cleaver with very thick profile, that being said it is very sharp for what it's designed to do. This isn't a tool for fine chopping, peeling, etc. but it is more than capable of bigger jobs. I won't lie, I did buy this for the rugged good looks, craftmanship and versatility. It seems I got what I paid for.

Was actually thinking it was going to be a bigger knife. It definitely fits your hand and cuts great out of the box, anxious to see how well it holds an edge. I am still waiting on my wood cutting board but this one will do. It’s a thick blade with good weight, but then again it better be for $160

We purchased the knife as a Christmas gift and it had rust in the grooves. It rusted after one use so we returned it. We paid $149 for this knife and the company only credited $10 and took the remaining amount as a “restock” fee. I will never buy from this company again. Terrible customer service and first impression of a business.
