Impressive Design, Looks Great on Camera, and Versatile
This was an excellent purchase for my Sony ACR2. The fit was perfect and it does what I needed it to do, mainly allow quick on and off the tripod while protecting the camera base. The clever design allows for the easy exchange of batteries (you must read the directions and open the gate on the side). All in all this is a great design and value.

QD Port Rocks!
This baseplate is perfect for the A7Cii. Adds a tiny amount of weight but a noticeable additional grip space. Most important, it includes not only an ARCA-swiss compatible tripod mount but ALSO a QD port. I modified one of my Peak Design straps to add a QD connector, this is an awesome setup.

Almost perfect
This base plate is extremely practical and looks fantastic on my a7c II. The silver color is a very close match, so it looks like the product is part of the camera body rather than an add-on (and I'm pretty picky about stuff like that). I was worried that the plate would make the camera too bulky but I've found that the size is pretty balanced still. My favorite feature is the built in arca swiss plate. It works with my Peak Design travel tripod, which is super convenient since I don't have to keep using the tripod plate. I also like putting my wrist strap on the bottom of the camera instead of the side loops at the top of the Sony body. Overall I'd recommend.

Well designed and well crafted
I absolutely love this add-on for my Sony A7Cii. It's crafted from metal yet remains incredibly lightweight. The color seamlessly matches the silver accents of the camera, giving it a cohesive look. At the bottom, it features five tripod mounts, offering flexibility for various balanced positions. It also includes a handy tool neatly tucked into the body for tightening the screw. Some reviewers have mentioned issues with the battery compartment being blocked. While it is true, this design prevents the battery from accidentally falling out. Thankfully, there's a sliding mechanism that allows you to easily access and change the battery when needed. See the pucture attached.

You need that space at the bottom
Very help plate and is the best one beside the one from sony. You will lose the screw washer tool that comes with it because it will not stay in its slot of you're on the move. I've already lost it.

Good but not Perfect
There are few options for the A7CR as a grip extension/base plate combo as of the writing of this review. The A7CR comes with a grip extension that feels superior in hand to this Smallrig baseplate but is much inferior to the Smallrig when trying to stabilize the camera on a tripod. The factory grip however does not have an arca base built in. This is why I purchased the Smallrig baseplate, as I wanted to take long exposure and needed more stability. The Smallrig baseplate works well for adding the stability but I would say the build quality is similar to expectations to the price point. The metal is a softer aluminum which is probably lighter than something stronger, but is susceptible to finish wear and scratching. Not a huge deal but on my old camera I had a Really RIght Stuff baseplate that looked new after years of use. Also, they include a screw mount and a key in the bottom of the baseplate that is held in place by weak magnets. I have lost this within a few months of use so now I need a coin in order to remove the baseplate if I want. My RRS baseplate had a built in hex wrench also held in by magnets that stayed in place for years and never fell out / was lost. I would have preferred a hex bolt setup personally as I have those wrenches typically available and the wrench size is a very standard size in photography applications. In all, I am pretty happy with the use of this baseplate but I would have preferred to pay a bit more and have these issues resolved. It does add a nice bit of grip extension and holds quite well when mounted directly to my Peak Design tripod.
