The Ultimate Book on Pheasant Hunting.
I had been upland bird hunting for a decade before I purchasedSteve's first revision. I bought this already knowing that it was the text book of pheasant hunting. The man hunts like one needs to hunt if you are going to have any success in contemporary uplands. The insight is that of a specialist. There are many authors that play in the outdoors and several that hunt a myriad of creatures while professing to be an expert of each. Steve has spent a lifetime as intimately involved with the subject as possible. He has the ability to inform while telling a story as vivid as the hunt itself. If you are beginning or wondering how you can improve your odds on this clever bird, look no further.

Good advice for any pheasant hunter
A great reference book on how to hunt wild pheasants in North America. I will be referring back to it frequently, until I have it memorized. The author advocates observing, then thinking like a pheasant. He describes different kinds of cover and how best to hunt them. He also provides advice on locating pheasants early, mid, and late season. I hope to be able to try out a few of the recipes for preparing pheasant.

confirmation
I've been pheasant hunting off and on for 25 years, this book has both confirmed what I knew and contradicted what I thought I knew. I do have some new tactics for next season and that alone makes this book worth it. I think I'll buy one for every hunting partner, maybe they'll stop slamming doors and scaring the birds!

Pretty good
Author clearly knows pheasant hunting, and I really got a lot out of the discussion of chokes and loads.Occasionally came off as smug, and the bit about global warming and pheasant hunting was weapons grade stupid. Otherwise highly recommended.

Excelent Read
This was the second book on Pheasant hunting that I had read (A Pheasant Hunter's Notebook was the first one) I really enjoyed this book as much as the other. The two really complement each other well in fact. There are, of course, places where the book overlap... but I still found both books enjoyable and informative.
