Not cheap, but light, solidly made, and frighteningly sharp
Bought these to do regular cutting back of a 100m long hedgerow, which previously I'd been doing with a petrol strimmer. Although a strimmer seems like it should be faster for that sort of job I find I can work for hours with these lightweight shears when my arms would be aching after an hour holding a strimmer at shoulder height. Plus working with shears is almost silent so I can listen to the radio while working rather than having to wear ear defenders. As others have commented these shears feel like real quality, very lightweight, and ferociously sharp. After two long sessions using them I thought I'd better wipe down the blades yesterday with some WD40 on a wad of kitchen paper. With a gentle wipe one of the blades cut straight through the paper, and then my finger, which is still pretty sore. Lesson: wear gardening gloves when wiping the blades down in future. Not a complaint, but an indication of just how sharp these blades are, even after a few hours cutting through blackthorn and hawthorn.Far superior to all the major brand shears I've used over the years, with the added bonus of having a funny name.

I want to prune all day!
Used these on a laurel hedge. Lovely to use, made me want to prune everything! I've used electric trimmers on the hedge previously and these do a much much better job. You can get a really straight, level cut with these. No tearing at the leaves. Amazingly sharp. Having the slight curve made pruning the top edge simple, just turn them over.Light as well, i didn't get any shoulder or arm ache (I was only pruning for about 1hr though).I'll probably sell the electric ones now.We have a friend whom is a gardener and he tried the out...He now owns a pair.Everywhere was selling around the same price, delivery was fast.

Extraordinary shears
Have used these shears for 2 years. These are stunning. Lightweight, ultra sharp and a pleasure to use. Throw away all your old shears and buy a pair of these. We use this for pretty much all the tasks and don’t just reserve them for high end topiary. These shears cope with everything you throw at them. Would t be without them. Probably one of the best manual garden tools we have. Buy them. You won’t be disappointed !

Makes cutting the hedge a pleasure
Brilliant, with great design detail. I love using these shears. Their subtle curved design is great for subtle trimming of globe shaped box topiary. Strong enough to cut through thicker branches. So light and easy to use I have left my petrol hedge trimmer in the shed. Light, well balanced so easy for me as a lady to use for long periods. a great item and investment.

Sharp shears
I moved to a house with an overgrown garden and inherited two pairs of shears. The more modern pair were thrown out as totally useless even cutting grass was a 'clamp and tear' rather than cutting process. The ancient wooden shears were OK for grass (with frequent sharpening) but no good for hedges. The pair that looked best performed worst ..... so how to pick a replacement? In this case paying more has provided a quality product that's worth the price. The shears are really sharp. The long, curved handles are really easy to use and they're really light so the extra reach of the longer handles is a benefit not an unwieldy burden. The hedge is shorn!

Very good garden shears.
Very sharp and effective shears. I have knocked off one star as the protective cover for the blades seems cheap and I do not know know long it will last. These are the only good shears I have had in a long time (since the UK had a steel industry??). I am pleased with the purchase, despite the expensive price.

Superb
This is the first time I have bought anything other than cheap/midrange shears and these were a revelation. So light and well balanced yet cut very well and would handle twigs up to 10mm with no effort. The handles are long in relation to the blades which gives considerable leverage. The blades are very sharp and although not easily sharpenable as they are chrome plated on high carbon steel which also means they should not rust. The blades and all of the other bits are replaceable however although I have not needed replacement parts and it looks from how they are made it will be a long time before I do it was very difficult to find anywhere to buy spares. As a finishing touch I liked the protective sleeve that covered the blades.

an excellent cutting edge that made mincemeat of some very thick ...
I bought these shears because I was fed up with buying cheaper ones that never lived up to my requirement. We have a big garden surrounded by tall, mixed hedges which I've been cutting by hand for 40 years. I haven't yet cut the hedges with these shears, but I have just spent a morning cutting into an overgrown area of bramble near our allotment. They were magnificent! Light to use, an excellent cutting edge that made mincemeat of some very thick stems and I could easily have continued all day without tiring. One minor observation. The little screw which holds the locking nut in place worked loose and the blades started to loosen. It was easily fixed and didn't happen again, so I guess it hadn't been tightened sufficiently in the factory. The blades can be easily removed, so I'm hoping that they can be replaced in the future when they get blunt or damaged. Really very pleased.
