My lad is quite a substantial young gentlemen and is prone to small repeated movements when sat down and when he went to University he quickly broke the large office chair he taken with him that we had bought for him. The plastic chair base breaking in a couple of places with stress cracks. I bought a cast aluminium base to rebuild the chair with and that lasted about 9 months before again he managed to stress crack it into breaking - no I'd never seen that before either! Anyway this purchase was my final attempt at finding a decent chair base that might go the distance, and it has worked a treat. It was easy to fit castors to (also heavy duty!) and easy to mount the rest of the chair too. Its certainly taken everything he has thrown at it for the last 2+ years and has returned home with him for continued use. I also thing its pretty good to look at too, better than the more cumbersome looking plastic bases.

I bought an AK Racing brand chair nearly two years ago for just over £300 from a nearby Computer Shop.Last week one of the plastic legs broke off taking the castor with it.I wasn't happy with taking a perfectly good chair to be recycled due to one failure and I was unsure as to the manufacturers warranty or if it even applied.After looking at Amazon on the remote chance I could buy a replacement base, I came across this fantastic 'universal' base.The new base arrived in a shoebox sized package and took less than five minutes to assemble.What do I like about it?The legs on this base are made out of metal, my existing wheels / castors fitted perfectly and the base's centre hole is the standard 50 mm bore which matches most, if not all, chair piston diameters.As for removing the original base from my chair? That took about an hour of hacksaw and mallet work!Right now, my AKRacing chair with this new base fitted is sturdier and more solid than it originally was, probably due to the metal legs.Overall, i'm very happy.

I purchased this product to replace the base of my Xrocker gaming chair, and I’m very pleased with the results. The setup was straightforward, and the new base fit perfectly, including the wheels, which installed without any issues. The chair feels sturdy and looks like it was designed specifically for gaming. I’m giving it 5 stars for now, but I’ll update this review if I encounter any problems down the line.

A solid base. Fits standard sized castors, so just swapped them over from the old one. Centre hole slightly under sized, but not a big problem.Self assembly a little fiddly and took about 10 minutes from unboxing to using the chair. After a month, works just fine and still looks shiny. Being a lump of metal, likely to last a lot longer than the original moulded plastic.

When this turned up as a small self assembly kit I was dubious that it would meet expectations; surprisingly after assembly the chair base was very sturdy and strong and I am really pleased with it. If I ever needed a replacement chair base again I would be choosing this! Great value for money, easy assembly, looks great and it works really well.

OK first the great news, its steel alloy so it wont break hopefully, easy to assemble and is universal fit for any chair, gaming or office one, the chair that i have is good but they put plastic on the bottom, so that is bit re t ar ded and it broke, so i order this no problem i assemble in 2 min and fit it no problems,What i dont like is the price i mean 42 £ for the base is robbery, but what can you do, i recommend this product

I have a £125 "gamer chair" I've had for just over a year now, and one of the wheels popped off.. Because even though the base seemd quality it was plastic and was "honeycomb" around where the wheels clip in... Its this what broke, and this has been the offender for every chair.The missus suggested buying a new chair for £100+ but that seemed a total waste, and then I spotted this... Solid metal? £26? Seemed too good to be true?So it arrived, the alan key supplied is pretty poor quality but one end will work, so it's all assembled, I slap on the old wheels that came with the chair and boom!Winner winner chicken dinner, the seats as good as new! It is much higher than the old one, but everything seems better, sounds quiter on the floor boards, doesn't seem to creak as much, just feels really good and solid.I play a lot of online games from FPS to MMOROGs and pretty much everyone I know has had these issues, even with "£200+" chairs, now I'm glad I've found something to recommend... And I'm even more happy the "throw away society" didn't win this round with what's a perfectly fine chair (and perfect with this item on it).

Although you have to put this base together yourself (only takes 5 minutes and is very easy) it does feel very strong, there is no creaking or clanking you can get from some metal bases and it has a wide diameter so your chair is unlikley to tip over if you have a larger chair or you are a taller person. I am about 86 kilos and over 6 foot, my chair is a quality heavy mesh and metal style weighing about 25kilos I would guess, this base feels like it was built for the chair and although I can't speak long term about it yet I feel confident it is going to last many years.I did purchase a 1 piece metal base for 12 pounds higher than this..... but when it arrived it was smaller and felt quite thin near the feet, I returned that because I didn't feel it had the quality I was expecting, this one does and it is cheaper.

When the package arrived, I was expecting a different form. But I found that the base assembled very easily and well designed. Solid steel construction. I only added lock washers to the screws as added insurance. Could have used Lock-tite thread locker I suppose. Over all, I am quite pleased with the new base. I do not anticipate having to ever replace it or to have any problems with it.

I admit I'm a large guy but the damage to my office chair actually came when changing out the casters for a heavier style...I heard a "crack" but couldn't see any damage until about a month later when one leg just gave way. Enter this new chair base. All I can say is, awesome! I purposely ordered a metal base thinking I could bypass any structural problems down the road. I admit, I was a bit taken back when the package arrived and it wasn't a large, flat box like I had expected. I did find it was super easy to assemble however and they even tossed in a cheap hex-key (allen wrench) to do the job. I had the base put together in 5 minutes and slid my chair's hydraulic cylinder into waiting for trouble that never showed up! I did push on it a bit more than necessary simply because the chair sat so much higher than it had on the original base. Trust me...this is a great problem! The other was so low I felt as if I was at a preschool table again. Now...I am a man behind my desk! The unit assembled easily, is quite sturdy and now my chair rolls with ease! What is not to love??
