Close comfortable shave but not for sensitive skin.
Three of the best barber shaves I ever had were Barbers in Italy, Turkey and Golders Green in London and all of them were using Proraso. So pretty much unnecessary to say why I use Proraso except that at the age of 64 I've tried a fair few although not all of them and Proraso is best for me.Shaving cream is pre-wetted shaving soap or as some would have it, "pre-lathered" which is quicker to use. Apply a walnut size or less quantity to your face and lather with a wetted brush wetting the brush more as necessary Or if lathering on the face is not liked do it on the palm of your hand. Either way the goal is the same as with shaving soap to fill the brush with lather and then put the lather on the face Personally, I prefer a super badger brush with shaving cream which is softer for lathering directly on the face. On the other hand for shaving soap lathered in a bowl I would use pure badger or boar hair. This particular shaving cream is from the blue range which is protective in that it provides a close comfortable shave. It is not for sensitive skin though: For that the white range is needed. Aloe though is a good choice for those who tend to suffer from an occasional acne breakout or indeed shaver's rash. Anyone who has splashed on some amber and musk aftershave while traversing the Cumbrian fells will recognise the base notes and top note of ferns but will be forgiven if they mistakenly refer to it as grass. Many of my reviews have a critical element to them but quite frankly I don't find anything to be critical about. The only thing I can think of is that the cap is rather narrow and the tube falls over when rested on the cap: A wider cap would be awesome. I use it with Edwin Jagger Super Badger large size brush, Edwin Jagger DE89 razor and Derby blades but it works equally well with my Muhle R89 and both razors are non-agressive closed comb.

The Italians know how to make a great shaving product
Proraso was recommended to me about four years ago and with good reason. They have a long Italian history of making a fabulous shaving cream. I have been used to using their original menthol cream and soap which gave me that good morning wake-up refreshment that I needed without drying my skin.I saw this variant and thought I would give it a try. It is formulated for sensitive skin containing aloe vera and vitamin E. Inconsistent true form using a smaller amount, say the size of a small almond, and a badger brush gave a rich creamy thick lather that was not foamy or too thin. It spread really nicely on the skin. There is very little, I would even say no sent, to the cream which is a stark contrast to its original formula which could make your eyes water. In true proraso form my razor glided effortlessly with no harshness or burning/irritation at any time.Post-shave my skin was left feeling smooth and moisturised unlike many other shaving creams I have tried. I did not feel the need to using Alum bar either.I would highly recommend the shaving cream for a comfortable shave especially if you want something with very little aroma.

Good shave
Tried the Proraso red and white soap versions previously, don't fancy the idea of the green menthol, so went for the blue. Has the usual good lather and so shave, with no fuss. Tube bigger than expected, so very good value for money - just why would you buy these High St cans of foam & air? Only used a cherry tomato sized amount and it give a nice thick lather quickly, with a softer brush. I've got good Scottish water, so you're experience maybe different.Tube looks classy, but as a previous reviewer said a wider cap would help it stand up better. Not like the Italians is miss a design detail. (No problems with the small Proraso plastic tubs, prefer them to wood that stains black easy, and I'm sure they'll be upcycled and handy for storing something...)On first use, originally had a problem identifying the distinctive 'blue' scent - definitely not as nice as the white (nice clean, subtle) or the red (great, but not strong enough, and disappears quickly) but did eventually identify it. It's definitely chocolatey, or even more precisely that old rum and raisin flavour chocolate bar. Or is it just me? Anybody else agree? Better get out and try with the ladies and see what the verdict is ..... :-)

Great on the skin
I have heard of Proraso many times and had it recommended to me to before purchasing. 80 years Proraso has been the leading Italian barber shop shaving brand. This new formula has been developed to create ample protective lather for a multi pass shave and has a very fresh, clean scent.Having sensitive skin meant i chose this one out of the line of products they made. It contains Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to help sooth and keep the skin fresh. This is best applied using a shaving brush and not by hand as you'll be able to use less and get a good lather. As for shaving I used a DE blade which was perfect and I didn't feel any harshness or burning, although I am still perfecting my technique and get a few nicks here and there, but this is not due to the shaving foam.Post shave my skin felt clean and fresh and I didn't have any shaving rash.I would highly recommend the shaving cream for a comfortable shave.

Really good shaving cream and great value for money
This is okay when applied with a hand, but even better when using a shaving brush. You can apply it directly from brush to the skin or lather in a bowl or mug. Only a tiny amount, similar to how much toothpaste you'd put on a toothbrush, is needed to whip up more than enough lather for a multi pass shave, with this providing good slickness, cushion, and protection.Use it anywhere on your body, it has a delicate scent which is a bit like fresh apple, and leaves the skin feeling good. I've been using it for months and see this one tube lasting a couple of years, if not more, so the value for money is absurdly good.
