OXOGood Grips Wide Butter & Cream Cheese Dish

I searched for a butter dish for such a long time, and I wanted something decorative and heavy duty. I like to keep the butter in the fridge. I’m glad I decided on this Oxo butter dish because it’s much more practical than what I had in mind. It fits well in my fridge, I like that it is lightweight and sturdy, and I like that it has anti-skid bottom pieces to keep it from sliding around. I also feel that it goes well in my fridge and helps things to not look cluttered.

We purchased a new refrigerator and it didn’t come with a butter dish like in the old days! So I got one! I love that I can fit two sticks of butter in it! It’s sturdy, easy to open and keep my butter fresh and soft! I love OXO products!

This butter dish holds the standard European (wide) butter, while still being narrow enough to fit in a normal butter compartment in an ordinary fridge. It seems that most of the others would not. It gets four stars instead of five, because where the butter sits doesn't have any "gripper lines" to keep the butter from sliding. What we do is rinse off the dish in very hot water, take a tiny bit of the butter off the new stick, spread it on to the base (where it melts), press the new stick onto the melted butter (with the flat side down - not the uneven side where the foil wraps around and makes the surface uneven). This way, once the dish is cold again, it "glues" the butter to the bottom, which seems to be working. The black grippers underneath do hold the dish itself to the counter very well, so you can slice off your pat one-handedly. We have a few OXO products, and they all seem to be well conceived and executed. No more improvisations getting wide butter into a standard dish with messy leftovers still in the foil "somewhere" in the door. It's almost everything it should be.

This wide version is perfect for the Karrigold size butter sticks. Or to fit 2 normal sized sticks. The area where the butter goes has very short raised bars to keep the butter from getting too close to the clear cover. Yet not so tall that a knife will not get down to the bottom of the butter stick when cutting some off. On the bottom of the dish are rubber feet to keep the dish from sliding around on smooth surfaces. Well designed and the perfect dish for the double wide butter sticks we prefer.

Nice and simple but an exquisite solution to store butter on the countertop. There is plenty of room to fit Kerrygold or Kirkland Grass Fed Butter, I tried both and was very pleased. The top seals well and keeps the butter fresh and is easy to use and clean. This is an outstanding value for this product.

Love this butter dish- I use European style butter (kerry gold, etc), which comes in blocks the size of cream cheese. This butter dish is also good for two regular eastern butter sticks (long), so its great for people who use a lot of butter like in a larger family, etc.Its lightweight and doesn't break easily, unlike ceramic butter keepers (helpful for accidental slips of grip), and the grippy footing on the bottom keeps it from shifting accidentally when in use. The lid is light weight and easy to remove or put back on- the little ledge keeps it in place when on. It does not clip on in any way, so you can't tip the dish all the way over and expect it to stay.I really like that it is a clear lid so I can see how much butter is left. I'm a very tidy person, so I don't get butter on the lid at all or even all over the dish- I have a friend with the same dish and 3 kids and somehow they seem incapable of not getting butter on the lid every day (not sure how- it drives my friend crazy).

Nice size and works just fine. I use this for 8oz cream cheese you buy in a box. I cannot stand how the aluminum that it comes in always rips horribly so I bought this as a replacement and it works perfectly. Cream cheese sticks to the bottom and I’m able to scrape it off with ease to apply to my bagels. Made from sturdy plastic. Looks just like the pictures. Clear on top white on the bottom. Simple to use.
