Very good walking shoe that fits like a sneaker...
It is a little bit bulkier than I would have thought, but break-in was very easy and they provide sufficient support and comfort without the need for inserts (that I use for all of my shoes and boots). I like them...good value

Great Sneaker!
This shoe is a little expensive but worth every cent. If you need a sturdy well built supportive sneaker look no further. This is one of the best products on the market at an excellent price. Some say it is a heavy sneaker but what you receive in return in incredible support and a very comfortable and durable sneaker. I bought my second pair three months ago and I still use my first pair. I have no reservations in saying this is one of the best sneakers I have ever bought in my life hands down. I think you just might say the same thing too.

The best version of 928s
I wore 927s for years - they were the best shoe I have ever worn. The 928 version 1 was similar but just didn't fit the same, although they broke in to feel OK. Also, the leather uppers were the shiny type, and deteriorated too quickly. The 928 version 2 had better leather for the uppers, similar to the old 927s, but the shoe still didn't feel quite right. I was able to wear the 927s right out of the box with no break-in at all. It took me at least 6 months to break in the 928v2s. They felt too stiff and awkward and just didn't feel made right. The 928 version 3 still uses the good leather uppers, but something is different about the make of the shoe. I was able to wear them day after day out of the box, although they are not as comfortable yet as new 927s were. So, the version 3s are the best 928s, IMO. But not as good as the original 927s.Suggestion to New Balance: when you come out with the 929s, go back to the 927 model and just relabel them "new." The 927s were the best, although they did wear out a little faster. I dearly wish I had bought several pairs of the 927s before they were replaced.BTW, I replace my primary work shoe every two years, because the 927/8's soles wear down and become useless on ice and snow. But I still have my last pair of 927s. They are still very comfortable and look pretty good.Update - my review stands. This is the best version since the wonderful 927s. Regarding the shorter tongue - it is shorter by a little, but that doesn't cause me any issues. If anything I prefer it shorter. I am getting ready to order another pair, before the 928v3 is replaced by something worse.Unfortunately that is the world we live in - updates often ruin a good thing.

Longevity
I wore these shoes daily for 7 months. They are good on comfort and a good fitting shoe. The sole cushioning is in fair shape and still comfortable. Strings are good, outer sole and heel are in excellent shape. I mainly walk on natural ground and terrain so the sole is not really subjected to the abrasion of concrete on a daily basis. The leather and mesh upper is good. The interior lining and cushioning is worn through around the top or just below the collar and at the back of the heel on both shoes. I guess that would be where the Achilles tendon might be. On one the foam inner lining is gone completely in an area about the size of a quarter. Tongue is in good condition. Toe shield is releasing on the left shoe and on the right shoe it is just beginning to come loose. Where the upper attaches to the sole there is a 2 inch separation of the upper from the sole. It starts from the base of the big toe and goes around the inside of the left foot. This is beginning on the other shoe as well. If I were to continue wearing these for another couple of weeks the upper would separate from the sole and present a complete split and open air breech at these locations. I will say this though, they did indeed relieve some pain from plantar fasciitis. I don't know what the average longevity is for a shoe but I would think you should be able to get a year of daily use and I got about 60% of that. I'm pretty active on the farm here so I guess you could count that influence. So I gave this shoe 4 stars on account of the deterioration in the heel counter and the toe guard - upper/sole separations. It cost me an average of $0.66 per day to wear these shoes. You could probably get a year or more out of them if you weren't trekking the boonies everyday. I bought them solely based on the need for an orthopedic aid and pain relief from plantar fasciitis and I am quite happy with that aspect of it.

Great shoe
Typical New Balance quantity. This model is very helpful with balance and stability. The rocker sole works wonders. Great for those with neuropathy, charcot, diabetes.

Top quality
By far the best shoes I have ever gotten!!! I have been waring this same shoe style since my Dr recommended it to me for than a decade ago. I ware them because I have multipule forms of Arthritis. Quality materials and workman ship. Excellent support and true to fit. Only problem I have with these shoes is the price and you NEVER find them on sale! $157 is a lot to spend on a pair of shoes but in this case is WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE!!! I have never walked better or had as much less pain with any other shoe!! Cudos to New Balance!!
