I followed the boil & bite instructions carefully, with a small bowl of iced water for the final important step of hardening the pattern. All went as expected and the resulting grip & fit are excellent.My dentist said that besides a good fit, it's important that the material contacting the lower teeth not be soft, as might be the case with a single-layer product. The lower teeth can sink into a soft bottom and won't be able to freely slide around on the guard at night. That can lead to jaw joint issues. This Coollo is two-layer with a soft inner and a comparatively hard outer shell, and doesn't have a problem. To have the dentist make one would cost $700+.Update 11 months later: I've been wearing this mouthguard every night and still think it's great. There's some discoloration from saliva chemicals (I suppoose) but no degradation. But I bought several more because some others I've tried were worthless and I don't want to be shopping for a good one again.I recently had some work done which slightly changed the outline of one tooth. This mouthguard fits so precisely that I needed to re-shape it. I just followed the original instructions - again exactly - and it took the new shape with no issues. So I think just one of these will last me quite a few years.

My 12 year old son has played several seasons of flag and tackle football and this is the first mouthguard that provided perfect instructions that we did not have to repeat! We were both very happily surprised by the great fit. Tested in both practices and games- will buy again! Highly recommend.

I have tried many many different night guards in the past few months, none were working. This is the best I have found. I did have to mold and then remold the next day but I think I have found the best. I did trim the entire guard down in the front when I had a good bite established. Slept with it in my mouth all night. I have much experience with night guards. Been wearing them most of my life. Follow directions closely. Be patient and remember you will have to trim down the entire guard for a final good fit. You will not bite through this one!

Update: 5/12/23Although I still think the instructions could be made simpler, I have to say these mouth guards are good for boxing/sparring, in my opinion. I tried some imitation mouth guards that look just like these, but the bottom was VERY hard, and it hurt my bottom teeth & jaw when I bit down on my mouthpiece during sparring. These Coolio mouth guards have a softer bottom & outer layer that I feel are much more shock absorbing and easy on jaw, but they are not too soft to the point where I have bitten through them. So far so good, I wish they were a little bit more snug though.-----I think it's good, but the instruction manual is overly complicated. It's actually a very simple process and is not supposed to be that complicated, but the instruction manual will make you second guess yourself and you might make a mistake.Now, I might have to buy another one, which I'm not very happy about!
