Q: How are they packaged?

Hi Janetta thank you for your question. 1 gram is packaged in small glass vials and anything larger than 1 gram of saffron is packaged in food grade metal tins.

Q: My recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon saffron. How many teaspoons are in 1 gram?

I just found this too: One teaspoon of saffron threads is equivalent to approximately 1/8 teaspoon ground saffron. 1 gram of threads = approx 12 threads = 2 teaspoons of threads = 1 teaspoon crumbled = 1/2 teaspoon powdered Either way, I would carefully add one or two strings at a time. They also say you should soak it first in warm water to get the full flavor of it. All I know is that I went by the recipe and it was WAAAAAY TOO much. Good luck

Q: Is this organic and where was it harvested?

I have no way of verifying that it is organic, but the seller, SloFood Group is a reliable company and I believe their claim about that. The same goes for their claim of its origin- they say it's Persian (from Iran) and I believe them. Most of the world's saffron is produced in Iran, probably because it's better. This product is definitely fresher and works better in my recipes, so I'll continue to use and enjoy it.
