Honestly, I don't know. However, check out your local hardware store or Home Depot for a safe water proofing agent (for fish or such, if this is going in an aquarium) you can use on the statue, ..to be safe. One other possibility to consider, it might float?! It isn't a particularly heavy statue. The statue may have tiny air-pockets. I don't think it was designed for underwater.
