Works well with my Classic Mac.
This adapter seems well built and works well with my Macintosh LC III.Modes that work with my Mac:1467 - 640 x 400 @ thousands of colors. This looks to be 16:9 unfortunately, and you'll need to choose it in the "Options..." window.1367 - 832 x 624 @ 256 colors. This is 4:3 and the extra resolution is really nice.As others have mentioned, 2367 also works. It's 640 x 480 @ 256 colors. Personally, I prefer the higher resolution.

Works great, instructions are not very clear
It comes with instructions designed for different versions of this. Make sure you are using the one for the 10p pages. Also it is important to note that the few macs i have must be off before changing dip settings or no display will show. Another thing to note is that I have two different CRT monitors that work with different settings on each mac but both seem to work with 235.

Works great with Mac Performa
Like another reviewer here I had success with the switches set to 2367... but at first I didn't. At first I thought maybe the monitor was too big because the instructions have settings only up to 21" and my monitor is 24". I kept trying different switch settings and turning the monitor off and on in between hoping it would discover the signal. It never did. What did work was turning the computer off and back on with the adapter set to 2367 and there it was... OS 7.5.1 and the old Encore music files I'm trying to retrieve. Its been a while but if memory serves the old systems need restarts for the signal to be discovered. My set up: Mac Performa 6200CD connected to a 24" Samsung SyncMaster.

Works great with my Mac IIci
I was looking for a way to hook up a flat-panel LCD VGA monitor to the built-in video on my ancient Mac IIci. This adapter worked great with switches 1 and 4 on, the rest turned off. It worked with an old Rosewill R900J I had laying around, but it did not work on another VGA LCD I have. I'm assuming this is because the IIci has a weird scan rate and it's sync on green, and the Rosewill monitor happened to support that combination. It worked for me (yay) but your mileage may vary!

Works great but the manual is NO help
I second the reviews that recommend DIP switches 1467 (along with 1367, etc). The DIP switch guidance in the instruction sheet were no help whatsoever. It wasn't until I came back to see the reviews give some DIP switch suggestions til I tried 1467 and got my PowerMac Performa to show up thru an external monitor. I haven't confirmed any of the other mentioned combinations yet but so far this one works - I'm in no rush to try the others. Picture quality is great so far. There are some reviews on here about this product being garbage but it isn't garbage if you either know from other folks what the DIP numbers are or if you can decipher the nonsensical codes in the instructions.
