Stiff Pliability
Like a pliable, stiff hold that’s free of shine and remains workable throughout the day? Get this stuff busy between your palms to emulsify before styling your hair and you’re all set.Good as a standalone or paired with this brand’s salt spray for added volume.

Nice matte hold, but wasn't wild about the scent.
I was excited to try this clay product, as I wanted something to give my hair a natural matte finish but still provide good fiber pomade style hold.First off, I loved the American Psycho-inspired label design and the presentation of the jar is just so nice and masculine looking. And the good thing is that it works pretty much as advertised. Some people have complained that it's hard to work through your hair - I suggest vigorously rubbing a dime sized amount between your palms to heat it up, or even use your hair dryer and aim it at your palm at low heat to loosen it up a bit. (Just don't burn your hand!)If I apply to damp hair, I can immediately feel it provide a grippy texture but without feeling sticky. Some water based clay pomades will "lock in" the damp hair look and look more like a grease pomade if you do this, but with this product I found my hair continued to dry with a natural matte look which was great. However, I think because I have quite thick hair I may need to still apply just a minor amount of grooming cream or something with just a hint of sheen to enhance the separation, because I did find at times that it just made my hair look overly dry and puffy if that makes sense. I struggle with finding a good balance because I am not a fan of the greasy pomade look but I think just a hint of sheen can make hair look healthy and enhance separation when combing.Overall I really like this but I might try Shear Revival's paste next to see if it gives a little more more of a balance in my hair. One other thing I wasn't wild about was the scent. I've seen people rave about it, but time it just smelled like they mixed some lavendar essential oil into the clay. I love lavender, but I prefer it in my diffusers or candles - in a men's hair product it just seemed a little bit of an odd choice.

GREAT Hair Clay
American Gardens is a phenomenal hair clay and another great product from Shear Revival. The pros: scoops and applies to hair easy, provides excellent hold, tames frizz and fly aways, delivers awesome texture, allows reworkable manageability, doesn’t weigh your hair down, dries to a natural matte finish, has all day longevity and washes out no problem. I also really like the light citrusy scent.Cons: none

Good, similar to Goodfellow & Co Texturizing Fiber
I used to use the Goodfellow & Co Texturizing Fiber from Target, it was the best hair product I’ve ever tried for only $8 per 4oz can. Sadly, they discontinued that, so I found this as a replacement.I’ve always preferred super dry, no shine, and very stiff hair clays for my hair and this one is almost as good as the Goodfellow brand in that regard.

Bring the old formula back
New formula is no where near the same quality as the old formula. The new formula has a completely different scent, texture, and hold. It feels like you’re mixing cement into your hair, and yet the texture and hold are just not up to par. The old formula was my all time favorite hair product, and this is just a sad excuse for pomade.

Terrible product and a waste of my money
Terrible smell medium hold and the formula is like a brick with tiny particles even pet's and Pedro's clay is better !!

Finally
I've tried so many products after paul Mitchell discontinued my old favorite. This actually feels natural, like some gray clay you would find in the ground. It smells nice, holds firm, adds texture and washes easily. I will 100% recommend to my friends.

Great product if you are looking for a little more ...
Great product if you are looking for a little more shine and less hold from a clay. Leaves your hair so much healthier than all those cheap pomades. Unfortunately, my hair works best with a matte finish, and I was expecting a much more matted finish with this product and the smell is very strong, though good, so I had to deduct a star for those reasons.
