Stinky, but solid stuff!
I bought this to repair a fiberglass bathtub with some hair dye stains and cracks. The previous owners rented the house out, and sometimes people don't respect the property of others as they should. After doing structural repair of the cracks I sanded the tub, mixed and tinted this gel coat and applied it heavily with a small roller. The result is beautiful! Thick, strong material that hasn't chipped or peeled with regular use over the past 6 months. Don't bother painting a bathtub like the hacks show online. Do it right with proper gel coat!

Great gel coat.
I repaired the transom on my bass boat and painted it with this gel coat and the black pigment. I like everything about this product. Well almost. There is not enough black pigment to make a darker gray. I used all of the pigment in 16 oz. of gel coat and it was lighter than slate gray. I would buy it again.

How to mix.. documentation is not written for a novice!
Once I figured out to add 12 drops of MEKP catalyst to each once of clear coat it was easy.. make sure to buy a clear plastic paint measurement cup at Homedepot with ounces on the side and mix small amounts of pant adding the catalyst because once it starts setting up your done with that batch.. I did 2 to 4 ounces at a time.. did an 8 ounce once and lost 4 ounces because it setup before I could paint it.. just bought a bunch of cheep brushes and 5 measuring cups and was able to paint a quart without trouble.Directions are not written for the novice painter! Hope this helps you… so far it is staying on the boat but I can’t say how durable it is yet as it’s only been a month.

DAZED AND CONFUSED, OUT $75 DOLLARS AND 2 WEEKENDS WORTH OF WORK!!!!!!!
I 've been an avid DIY'er for more than 40 years and found this product very confusing and deceptive. First, the Amazon Pictures and description insinuate that this Gelcoat is useable for repairs on a black water craft. NOPE! There are no written instructions inside the box or on a label pasted on the product. I did go to the website which has a large number of different products and the Gel Coat repair instructions are 9 pages long and don't have any table to show how many drops of the MEKP product to put in how many ounces of the resin. I went with assumptions and tried to mix the black (1/4 oz) pigment, that came with the kit, into 8 oz of Gelcoat Resin. NOPE!! My watercraft is Jet Black, so I want a completely black repair. It quickly became apparent that this little jar of black pigment was in no way going to turn the Gel Coat solution black. Then I went on the website again and saw that there was a large container of the Black Gel Coat for another $25 so I thought that would fix the issue. NOPE!!! I tried to add a large amout of the Black Gel Coat Pigment to the original White, that came in the kit, and it again became apparent that a complete black solution was not going to be achieved. Next, I thought maybe the large container of Black Gel coat pigment was meant to be used alone and I just needed to add the MEKP directly to it. NOPE!!!! I did a few more days of research and decided that I need 6 drops of MEKP to 1 Tablespoon of Black Gel coat. Finally, thinking that I had solved the mystery I applied this new jet black solution onto my watercraft and waited 24hrs only to find that it didn't harden at all. It still felt like the consistency of Vaseline. I GIVE UP!!!!! EXTREMELY FRUSTATED and now I'm out $75 dollars, 2 weekends of prep / work and no closer to fixing the large chip in the bottom of my Jet SKI then when I started weeks ago.

Good quality gelcoat, almost no pigment.
Whioe all of the pigment bottles appeared to be full when opened, after letting the big bubble out, there was hardly any in there!
