Great Firetruck for 3 Year old from Santa
For Christmas, our 3 Year old said he wanted Santa Clause to bring him a fire truck with a ladder that reaches the ceiling. I had found Bruder equipment on Amazon a while back and my boy already had a Bruder Excavator which I thought was awesome. Reviewing the options online I thought this truck would hold up well and have a ladder sufficiently big enough for his request, so I let Santa know which would be best. Now going on a year, this firetruck has been fantastic. Not a single item has broken on the truck, despite the toy being pulled around by the ladder. The real water feature on the truck is a nice idea, but overall is too much work for what it does. The reservoir doesn't hold much water, to pump you have to turn a small lever around and around, and the result is only a small squirt of water out of the nozzle. Without the nozzle on the end of the hose, it really just drips out, but the nozzle allows it to come out in a little stream. The outriggers work great and the ladder operates nicely in all directions. To extend or retract the ladder, you can just pull it up or down, or twist a small red nob on the side of the ladder. it can also lock the extension in place by pushing in that same red knob. To raise and lower the ladder there is another bigger knob. With the ladder extended, there seems to be a lot of pressure on the mechanism to raise and lower it, but so far it has handled it no problem.

very cool fire engine
very cool fire engine. it's large and has lots of nifty little features. detailed design. it's pricey for a plastic toy but i think our son will love it... so it's worth it.===update:our 2 year old boy absolutely loves it. just an awesome toy and so incredibly worth it. it's made of plastic which seems crazy for a $100 toy but it's very durable and tough. holding up well... and has so many features that our son loves. buy one of these toys instead of 2-3 of the cheaper toys.

A good toy, but I expected more
Overall, it's a good, but overpriced toy with average cost/value.For a relatively expensive toy ($140) it lacks many features that can be found in much cheaper toys, such as:- Wheels don't turn- Headlights and taillights not working- No horn sound when you press steering wheel- Wheels are made of soft plastic, not rubberAs for durability, in general it looks sturdy, but some small details (like mirrors) look flimsy and I doubt they would survive intensive play for a long time

Fantastic Toy
I purchased this as a gift for my 5 year old nephew. I was a bit concerned by some of the reviews stating that the hose didn't work. However, everything is currently working just great. My nephew has yet to stop playing with it. The size is simply perfect- particularly with the ladder extended. He's been putting out grass 'fires' all afternoon. The attention to detail is incredible. I also purchased the fireman that was advertised alongside the truck, which only adds to the fun my nephew is having. He's over the moon with this toy and I will be purchasing additional sets for him. The fire truck is a bit pricey, but it's well made.

My grandchild is in love!
My 2 1/2 year old grandchild loves this truck! I can't say enough (positive) about this. It is made of plastic but it is a high quality plastic unlike any other plastic toy I have ever purchased. Yes, it is expensive but feel it is worth every penny. He is rather rough with it and it seems to be bullet proof. He loves the fact that the doors and hood open and close and enjoys playing with the extra seating/cab for crane operator at rear of truck. I also bought him the fireman from this company and he is totally infatuated with him and his helmet with adjustable visor. At first I thought the knobs you must turn to extend/retract ladder would be difficult for him....silly me! I didn't even have to show him how it worked. He just grabbed those knobs and started extending the ladder and squealing with delight when he saw how far out/up it extended. He has played very little with any other toy since receiving this truck. In his words, "I wuv it!
