Is this better than the liquid version of this same product? How long does it keep odors at bay?

Hello, Both of them have roughly the same formulation and same strength. There isn't really a difference between the two, other than some stabilizers that don't influence the product's performance. The duration of the treatment is strongly influenced by temperature. A conservative duration is 2 to 3 days before we would recommend you empty the tank, but it can last longer than that. Thank you

Can this be used in a 5 gallon cassette holding tank?

Yes, it works great in a 5-gallon tank! We use it all the time.

Are these liquid packs or powder?

They are mall beads in a degradable in liquid container. I have been using the product for more than a few months now and very happy with it.
