Surprised
I am pleasantly surprised at quality of this knife. It's well made, has closely fitted handles and a very sharp blade. It's well packaged and the blade is oiled to prevent corrosion. But what really impressed me is the high quality, hand made leather sheath. The sheath is made of thick, stiff leather with well burnished and dyed edges. The knife fits tight even though the leather is not wet molded. Also, it's a dangler style sheath, which the pictures don't show. This knife alone would be worth the price, but throw in the very nice sheath and it becomes an exceptional value!Purchased 9/2024

Best kept secret in the knife world today
I am a "knife guy" and I probably own over 2 dozen. Gerber, Morakniv, Buck, Cold Steel, Benchmade, and many others have crossed my bench. I also give knives as gifts to friends and family. I started reading about the BPS company in Ukraine making sturdy, woodcrafting type knives for a low cost. I ordered a B1 CSH and was immedatley impressed with the heavy leather sheath. Well stitched with rivets. The BPS knives are a full tang knife (Strong) using easy to sharpen 1066 high carbon steel. The handles are walnut and the blades are sharp. Now, there may be some minor sanding/finishing if the BPS knives to smooth out any roughness of the handles, but they're fine as they are. I ended up giving that first knife to my daughter and purchased a BF2STS (slightly smaller paring knife size) for the Mrs and later another B1 for myself. On all these knives, I sanded the handles with 400 grit paper and put a 25 degree micro-bevel on the cutting edge. All will shave hair. Put you a light coat of oil - Mink oil on the sheath and enjoy. For under $40 you will have a functional, strong knife that will last a lifetime.

Ontario Bushcraft Field Knife "Little Brother"
This knife is superb in many ways.It is an old school wood handle full tang knife.4 1/4" blade length x 7/8" wide x 1/8" thick. Knife and sheath 7.9 oz.Blade is mirror polished!I wear Large leather gloves, the length is perfect with room to spare.Handle size and shape - perfect comfort, no hot spots.Blade is a Scandi grind, Razor sharp out of the box - No BS!No secondary bevel.Carbon Steel - It will rust. Keep it clean and oiled!I stropped it 12 strokes on each side - DONE! I am anal about sharpness.Wood handle is a bit dry - oil it.Fit and finish of handle is a very slightly rough. You could sand it. I like it just the way it is, Does not slip.Edge retention is about the same as 5160 (?). This is not a super steel. It is very easy to bring edge back with strop. It DOES NOT have a 90 degree spine. File it if you want. There ARE small tool marks on the spine if you are picky.Field tested it and it did everything a 4" knife should do.Strong tip, no chips, no edge rolls, no bends, etc. This knife is sturdy and very well balanced.Leather sheath is thick and I oiled it. It is a dangler with two loops. One for normal belt carry and one for dangler. The knife rides very deep in the pouch sheath. It looks like a little brother to the Ontario! The handle and blade are shorter than the Ontario Bushcraft (~$60. I love this 5" knife!) The Ontario is 5160 steel and I don't know how to compare these two steels? This is a great package!!!I bought a second one.

Seems like a good Morakniv alternative
I don't care about politics so where a knife is made means less than nothing to me unless it was a certain country that gets named often for its poor quality. As for this knife, it came in at a great price point and had a very good leather sheath. I have not yet put it thru any major testing yet so cannot speak to its durability or sturdiness but the edge was sharp and it certainly is a full tang knife. The one defect I saw was in the fit of the scales to the tang. It was done rather roughly and in parts the wood is below the spine of knife and in others the scales stick rather noticeably above it. I expect this can be fixed with a belt sander... if you have one. Not a deal breaker though and easily as good as my Mora companion with the added nicety of a leather sheath and belt hanger loop. If they want to improve, change the metal ring on the sheath to a circular one and QC those grips.

Great Company, Great Knife
I really like this company and support them fully. Have been ever since I got my first BPS knife about 5 months ago. THEY TRULY ARE GREAT. Full tang and all come with leather sheathes. In this one instance, I have had an issue where the sheath had two parts that were pretty oddly stained, as if oil had spilled on it. That’s just being honest. Never has happened before or since, so I’d just say it’s bad luck.Razor sharp out of the box so be careful. It’s beautiful how their knives cut through paper like it’s nothing, then will even baton. This blade has a mirror finish and so far I’ve tested it on feathersticking, and just about everything except for batonning. It has performed exceptionally. One note: people with large hands should consider the HK5 or Adventurer first as this one, while fitting in my hand, barely fits. I close my hand and it’s very close to the blade. Measure your palm and look at their listing where they give an accurate measurement of handle and blade lengths and widths. The scales feel great btw. The natural wood feels really good and has a great shape. When all added up: definitely a 5/5, especially with the value factored in.

Ultimate hiking/camping utility knife
Out of the box this knife is excellently sharpened. If you're perplexed by the 1066 steel, just remember, all knives need to be sharpened if they're being used. Excellent fit and finish of the walnut handle. I very much like that they come as bare wood. Dollop of your favorite wood finish and you're golden. Very impressed by the quality, especially given the fact they're pumping out of an invaded war torn country. The sheath that came with this bad boy is by far the tankiest leather sheath I've ever owned. Very impressed, very sharp, very consistent quality control. Hats off to you BPS.
