SIMMONS MFG CO 1161 Plunger Assembly for Pitcher Spout Pump

I had an old Pitcher Pump that I cleaned up and repainted. I had to replace the old leathers as well and needed a new plunger. The new Simmons plunger fit and works great . The pump had a standard 3” opening and the plunger was perfect with the leather that came with it. Nice fit and good to go.

Works as it should!

This fit right in my 4 year old Tractor Supply cast iron pitcher pump. The old one refused to disassemble for a new cup leather but this was simple and not much more money. If it only had the bottom check valve, too, it would have been the perfect repair. I bought rubber checks from another seller and they are horrible.

It was a bit snug and hard to push down into the pump. We started to think we may have ordered a wrong part. But we rubbed some olive oil on the leather and managed to install it. I am pretty sure the snugness is actually a good thing. It will probably last a long time. Pump works great.

It is better than that supplied in a Merrill brand pump. It would be a lot better if it were cast brass. I currently have to put anti-seize compound on the aluminum threads so that the parts don't gall, preventing disassembly to replace the piston/cup leather.

Fit perfect

I didn't think the old pitcher pump would work again. This fixed it, easily. I added the leather "valve" as well. Now it works like new.

The plunger works great and fit my standard pitcher pump perfectly! But the cup leather sucks. It worked for the first 3-4 days but now the pump has to be taken apart and manually stretch the leather to make it tight enough to pull water. Will have to replace the cup leather, which leaves this a bit expensive if only able to use the plunger part.
