works fine as intended, time will tell
after 2 attempts at generic made in china brands, and wasting over 165 dollars, I decided I had to go with KitchenAid brand, even though I didn't like the plastic casing, which is why I didn't buy in the first place. The made in china shaft broke grounding beef, if you can believe that, yes, "Supposed stainless steel" lost to organic meat, introducing made in china. Now I haven't used this long, and I feel I have to be very careful about using it (it's got metal impregnated into plastic so I don't know how long that's going to last), but so far it's fine. The built quality is much better than generic brands, I guess in some cases, you still have to insist on name brands, there's no short cut, even if they are also ripping you off, there's no out this day in age for American Consumers.

Why didn't I buy this sooner??
Easy to install! A simple operation... Not at all. Intimidating. I purchase a quarter cow once a year from a local farmer. And I always run out of ground beef, and never can find enough recipes to use my round steak for. So I purchased this to grind up round steak for burgers. Perfect consistency! I don't know why I waited so long to buy this. 10 out of 10 recommend. It wasn't hard to clean... Most of the parts I put in the dishwasher. Definitely worth the purchase. Currently I'm just storing it in the mixing bowl... And that seems to be okay for now.

Watch videos before using!
My family prefers ground chuck over ground beef. That extra little bit of fat means all the difference when it comes to flavor. For whatever reason, the price of all the ground meats at our local grocery store went up significantly recently and it was putting a pinch on the grocery budget.I've always toyed with the idea of buying one of the cast iron, hand-crank meat grinders just like my grandparents had, but ground meat was so cheap, it didn't seem worth the trouble of doing. When ground chuck got close to $9 a pound, then it seemed worth it.This attachment for my Kitchenaid stand mixer cost less than the better hand crank grinders, so I gave it a shot and was not disappointed. The meat tastes soooo much better I will probably never go back to store ground chuck again!I spent an afternoon watching all the videos I could find about "how to" and it made all the difference. Most important points:-- Key to good grinding is cutting up the meat and letting it sit in the freezer for a little while before grinding. 20 to 30 minutes is good in most cases.-- Also put all the metal parts in the freezer, too! Keeping everything cold is the key to perfection!-- You want to tip the mixer slightly forward by using a folded towel or microfiber so that any juices from the process do not flow back into the machine. Lots of people complaining about this happening.-- Drain your meat before putting it into freezer. Less juice, less mess, better grind.Clean up is not as easy as I would like it to be. None of the parts are dishwasher safe near as I can tell. Once I get all the meat processed, I throw everything in the sink with hot, soapy water, let it soak while I'm bagging & storing meat. Clean the parts, dry thoroughly, and I like to wipe down the metal parts with a little food grade mineral oil to keep them from rusting. This grinder paid for itself after a month. I'm not disappointed!

Great for brisket
Use to grind up my trimmings of brisket for chili. Only got it clogged up once, but as long as I donβt try to push it and the meat is cold enough, it works like a charm. Would recommend to anybody that already has the mix stand.

Was expecting a mixer & attachment (Didn't read π )
I was assuming that I'd receive the blender and attachment given the price and considering I didn't read. π I came to found out that this brand is pretty costly. As a result, I'll keep the attach, ent until I'm able to afford the mixer.

Easy to assemble, disassemble and wash. Worked great.
I have only used my new Kitchenaid grinder 1 time to grind two pounds of rib eye trimmings from a large rib roast. I was very surprised at how well it ground the meat. I used the larger holed screen plate. Ended up with the best homemade hamburgers ever. When finished I cleaned the whole mechanism in hot soapy water. Two washings as it is not reco'd for the dish washer. Not sure about all the negative reviews as I am very pleased. I am grinding 2.5 lbs. of additional rib roast into groundbeef today. If something goes wrong I will modify my review and if not I will stick with a 5 star considering the low price of just over $33.00 and how well it worked.
