Replacement
This was purchased to replace a worn stone in a Lansky sharpening set. It functions as the original.

Goes to a nice sharpening system.
This piece goes to a nice sharpening system. The Lansky system is excellent although time consuming to use. I use this to sharpen all my knives to a razor edge. These stones last a very long time. I have other sharpeners t do a quick dust up, but for the hard to sharpen, super hard hunting knives especially, this is an excellent system. This is an original Lansky stone replacement.

I think it's a good piece of equipment, but I'm still on a learning curve!
I'm glad I purchased it. It's giving me good results. I had no prior experience and I'm definitely not an expert, but I can make a few observations about what I have found:- It took me several tries and several hours before I began to produce a good edge. There is some real technique involved.- I found the frame/holder to be difficult to grasp, and I get better results when I gently clamp the "handle" into a vise.- I get better results when I use one hand on the stone, and the other to steady the guide rod (it tends to flop around in its guide slot)- Make sure the guide rod thumb screw doesn't come loose while you're sharpening. The angle changes and messes everything up.- Sometimes I get an amazing (almost scary) edge and think I finally got it figured out. Then the next one won't cut a banana skin!

Best sharpener on the market
This is a replacement stone. I have used Lanksy sharpeners for decades. No matter how many other sharpeners I use, I always return to my tried and true set. Precision and repeatable sharpening results with all my different types of blades.
