Pommery's mustards are simply the best. You get what you pay for. The rubber lid is a later improvement which is designed to keep the mustard perfectly fresh over the long haul in the fridge. It can be a challenge to open at first but here is the secret: slip a butter knife in between the crock and the lid and it lifts right off with ease. I use the back edge of the knife rather than the cutting edge.The crocks are beautiful and make wonderful kitchen containers. To remove the label, soak in hot water for about ten minutes and you can scrape the labels off with a fingernail or a knife. The tough glue will remain on the crock. Here's how to get the glue off effortlessly. Simply coat it with a nice oily peanut butter and let it sit for twenty minutes. (Yes, peanut butter - but not heavily processed sugary stuff - the natural kind that has only peanuts with their natural oils) You will be astonished to see that when you clean off the peanut butter afterwards, all the glue comes off with it. Any remaining bits come off easily with a fingernail or knife. Try it. You will be amazed. The crock is worth the price of the mustard. The mustard is a bonus.

I love Pommery Products, and this is a repeat purchase, but this time around, I am sad to report, again as I read Prior Reviews...It Pathetic. To open to find Half-Full and Musty/Tasteless....! Have used Pommery for years, I understand this IS a bit milder than the Straight Dijon Variety. AND, I KNOW for a fact this is Not the Condition a New Jar of Pommery Green Peppercorn Mustard should be...actually Less Than Half Full and Tasteless..and Of Course Non-Refundable...The Writing on the Wall Here, Approach with Caution...! So Sad..>!

I have been using different mustards from this brand for years and this is the first time I bought this one. It is definitely worth the price, pan fry some pork chops and this is a perfect condiment for them. It is worth a try.
