Ability to use 5lb cylinder w/o eductor tube to recharge 60l soda stream- i’d be getting the adapter kit that had the gauge. is this going to work?

So I bought this and then  I went to a Beer Brewing supply store in my town.  They sold me a 5 lb cylinder, which will cost $15 to refill, and should last me about 2 years between fills.  They connected this adapter for me.  You MUST open the valve knob for the 5lb canister first, the SLOWLY (one degree at a time) turn the red handle that fills the tank.  When I say slowly, I mean turn it as little as possible until you get a slight noise, which  means your tank is filling.  When the noise stopped, I moved the red handle just a little more, until I heard hissing again.  I kept doing this every few minutes until opening it up all the way.  There is a valve inside the soda stream canister that shuts down if the pressure is too high, so this gradual way of filling is the only thing that works.

Could be your attempting to refill from co2 gas. Instead of the liquid co2. Fill your mother bottle upside down and try again.

Can i refill a 5# tank from a 20# tank with this hose ?  (does it have 2 cga320 connections ?)

Hi, dear customer, I have checked with supplier,  this can refill a 5# tank from a 20# tank( CO2 tank), the connecter : one is cga320 connect to big CO2 tank, the other one is tr21*4 which used to connect small CO2 tank, please kindly know this hose just use for soda tank. About the 2 cga320 connections, that is used for paintball tank. You can have a check of your tanks connections, welcome to connect us if you have other question, have a nice day.

In the product description: "If the small bottle thimble is very thick and cannot be inflated, please replace the thin thimble bottle..." Meaning????

Unfortunately, this seems to be just one of the warnings that support for this and related products is limited: in other words, "let the buyer beware."

However, more information on this incompatibility issue is available on one of the images on this product page for this refill adapter. That image is titled "Fit for Thin Thimble Bottle." It shows five images of what seem to be three different types of valves that can be used on SodaStream cylinders. Its captions indicate that two of the valve types are compatible with this refill adapter ("Fit"), but one of them is not ("Not Fit").  Of the four SodaStream cylinders I have at home, one is of a compatible type ("Fit"), but three are of the incompatible type ("Not Fit"). Another product listed on Amazon.com (titled "Hvlystory M181.5 Thread Replacement Valve CO2 Tank Brass Pin Valve for Soda Stream") seems to be a replacement of the compatible type ("Fit").

Unfortunately, other technical issues seem to include 1) the requirement for either a) a supply cylinder with a "siphon tube" (aka "eductor tube") or b) a way to turn the supply cylinder upside-down; 2) the requirement to open the shutoff valve of this refill adapter very, very slowly; 3) the recommendation to use a scale to measure the weight of the gas that's been transferred to the SodaStream cylinder; etc.

I've decided against investing in all of this hardware, and going through this difficult learning process, without having good technical support.
