Totally worth the price. Excellent quality, built to last a lifetime. This is the one you want.
Great quality! Sized right, which is crucial to getting a good stretch. People who have complained about breaking the "hinge" are using too small a spreader on too big a shoe. That piece should hardly flex at all if the tool is sized right. This was hard to get in my 9.5 shoe, which meant the tool was able to meet resistance and do its job easily. Make sure to soak the shoe inside and out with a mix of rubbing alcohol and water. And don't try to do too much in one stretch. Let the tool work without over tightening it. Once dry, it may be necessary to remove the tool, soak the shoe inside and out again and reapply the tool. Repeat as necessary. Trying to go too fast is bad for the shoe and the spreader.Top quality construction, all wood and metal, the finish is just great. Holes are drilled symmetrically so that you can truly use this in the right or left shoe. Don't cheap out and buy the cheaper kind because they come in pairs. I did and regretted the purchase. I expect this purchase to last me a lifetime because it is so solidly built. If I experience a failure I will update this review, but so far it looks like a winner. I got nothing for this review, so you know it is totally honest!

Heavy Duty with Limitations
This is a very sturdy shoe stretcher and will probably last a life time ( yours, not the shoe ). It is made of solid beech wood, stainless steel and one wing knob of a high impact plastic.I am using this device to stretch a hiking boot which is not what it is advertised to do. It is a shoe stretcher not a hiking boot stretcher. I was unwilling to throw away a half used pair of $250.00 hiking boots without trying to stretch the one boot that was about 1/4 inch too short.I have used the device twice, once for 24 hours and once for 12 hours after conditioning the leather with Neat's foot oil. It have stretched the boot 1/4 inch and no more. The boot is now wearable. It seems the leather has a memory and wants to go back to the shorter length so I have used it twice so far. The time between use is about one week. The limitations of this device is that it is difficult to insert into a hiking boot and the adjustment ring is jammed against the back strap requiring a channel lock plyers to turn it. The ring is knurled so it is not a problem getting a grip on it.This device will not stretch and widen at the same time. Once the lengthening is at tension, the widening will not operate. One will have to do each operation separately.I understand the device is not a boot stretcher and therefore give it 5 stars for performing beyond its description.

Great product; could use another hole or tw
This is a beautifully crafted and functional product! Nice quality wood and metal, easy to use, many holes, and so on. My only concern is that there is no hole for an enlarger on the inside of the foot next to the big toe. This is where I need to do some enlarging!!!! My issue is with my metatarsal arch, which leads to a bunion (there's a hole in that spot so the footfitter works well there) and also leads to my big toe being pushed in. Shoes with any sort of point for the toes (which is most shoes) put pressure on my big toe, and it is important to create space so that doesn't happen. There is a hole toward the upper side of the big toe (for a corn??), but nothing on the side. Renders the footfitter of very limited value to me. Also, I wear a size 8 1/2 to 9, and this product doesn't help too much with stretching the shoe in length. I wish I could find something I could stick in the shoe along with the footfitter to help with both of these problems.

High Quality Item at a Fair price
I bought this stretching machine because I own two pairs of shoes that were way too tight. I remembered My Late Dad taught Me about this type of device when I was very young. I chose to invest in this because I would rather have this available than have to take shoes to a shoemaker's shop to have it done professionally. This will be beneficial to My Wife as well because She wears nearly the same size as Me. The devise worked rather well on a pair of lace-up canvas Sperry Top-siders that I recently bought. The other pair are leather and I am just having to tough it out with them because, even though this device did indeed stretch them, I have some Nephropathy issues that were caused by the Chemo-therapy that I went through between November of 2018 through April of 2019 and My feet are extremely sensitive these Days because of what I just described. These are a Really Good Value. I would recommend this to Anyone Who doesn't want to have to go to a Shoe-maker's shop each time They get a New pair of Shoes that are just a bit Too tight. The process is Extremely Simple and it Works. ( As long as You Follow the Very Simple Instructions that are Included in a Manual that Comes with this Device). I hope this helps.

You really can widen shoes!
I am a major shoe person and I buy quality, name brand shoes because I am on my feet all day as a teacher. However, in every pair, I had friction between two of my toes on my right foot. I realized that my right foot is wider than my left foot. So I purchased this shoe stretcher and it worked. For some of my shoes I had to stretch them twice, but they were more comfortable afterwards. Now I buy women’s wide shoes, but I’m so glad that that the shoe stretcher worked!
