Bacon Wave Tray 5057 Tray As Seen on Tv Boxed

We cook most of our bacon in the microwave. Lots of paper towels, and plates to wash for every 4 to 5 strips. Thus, this sounded like a good product to my wife. (You can see I'm distancing myself already!) There are three rows of tabs with the first and third holding these skewer like cross pieces. They don't actually skewer the bacon, but simply hold it up above the lower surface.PROS: Holds lots of bacon. Cooks it up above the surface of the device so the fat drips off and collects below. Cooked bacon taste fine, and isn't dripping hot fat as when fried in a pan, nor does it have bits of paper towel clinging to it like ours often does.CONS: After using it a couple of times the skewers that support the bacon bent considerably. I tried to bend one back and it promptly broke. A couple of the tabs are also already bent, I'm assuming from the heat. We've used it maybe 2-3 times. I figured I could use some wooden skewers to replace them. But the deal breaker is cleaning this thing. With so many slots between the tabs, if there is something that needs to be scraped off -- good luck.You know, perhaps I'll point out to my beloved that the "As seen on TV!" label might serve as a warning flag.
