Does this have an actual teflon type coating inside?

No, it does not have a teflon-like coating. However, I have had no difficulty with anything sticking, either. I had the aluminum version of this type of popcorn popper, which lasted for several years. I switched to the stainless steel because I needed something that would work with a convection cooktop. This one works perfectly, even better than my old one. It's fast and there are very few unpopped kernels. I highly recommend it.
