Close, comfortable and enjoyable shaving!
I have been using the OneBlade Core Safety Razor for about three weeks now and am loving it. I purchased based on reviews for this and other similar razors. As this is my first foray into shaving with a single blade safety razor, I liked the idea of a pivoting head to provide more forgiveness in the shaving angle. The razor came beautifully packaged along with a stand and a box of 10 Feather single edge blades. The instructions are minimal in the box, but loading the razor was pretty simple. I did refer to a couple of the videos for recommendations on transitioning to a single blade safety razor and shaving technique. The OneBlade feels very well constructed and feels good in my hand. I am used to shaving in the shower, with store bought gel, however, I followed the recommendations of using a brush and foam for the first week, just to get the hang of using the razor. I had a couple of minor nicks on the chin the first two shaves, but none since then and have reverted back to shaving in the shower.I am able to get a smooth, close shave and got about seven shaves out of the first blade before I felt it starting to tug. I have a light beard, so not sure how many shaves to expect for a heavier beard. However, at a cost of much less than $1 per blade, I am happy with the durability of the blades.I found the transition to the single edge safety razor easier than some described, and am very happy to have made the OneBlade choice.

One Blade CORE Razor
This is a finesse razor. If you are a 2 or 3 pass shaver than you might not like this razor. If you like to get a perfect shave and go over the trouble areas several times to get a nice shave then you will like the One Blade razor.I had a perfect shave with the razor the first time but I did go over my trouble areas, jaw line and neck, several times. But surprisingly there were no cuts or razor rash which I typically get when attempting to go over these areas with my DE razor. The second shave I had using the same razor blade was as good. But the third shave was not as good as the first two shaves. The blades appears to dull very quickly. Normally I can use a double edge razor blade for 7 shaves. And I could use a cartridge razor for several weeks, even a month. One thing I noticed is that the single edge blade is easier to clean by rinsing in running water. My DE razors do not clean that easy. I can only notice this using a magnifier while looking at the razor blade. There is something about the single edge that helps it stay cleaner.I have now used the One Blade for over 5 weeks of use. The razor causes the least irritation of any razor I have used. I also find it almost impossible to cut yourself. This is coming from a DE shaver so a cartridge shaver might have to be a little careful but I know of no other razor that is this forgiving. I do not get any cuts or razor rash no matter how many times I go over an area and no matter how fast or slow I shave. This is not the case with any of my DE razors, they are far less forgiving. The razor I purchased is the CORE, which has a plastic head. Looking closely at the head, it has several small notches that hold the razor blade. It looks like the razor head will be the weak point of the CORE razor. At some point those plastic tabs will wear out, since the blade touches them. The blade does sit loosely in the razor handle but I have not noticed any issue caused by the loose fit.The handle is a plastic covered metal. The metal is not magnetic and appears to be rust proof. The only issue I have with the handle is that it is very slippery. They could have put a couple grooves in the handle, smooth plastic does not work well with wet hands. I have to use the razor with a dry hand.My only concern with this razor is the expense of a shave. This is the most expensive way to shave of any razor I have used. The razors are just under a dollar and you get about 2 shaves. So for the month that is just under $15. That is more expensive than any cartridge razor I have used. Even an expensive cartridge razor that costs $7 would last over one month for me. That is less than half the cost of the One Blade. So the One Blade is very expensive to use when you compare the cost of a shave.I tried to use the Razor Pit to clean the razor blade and it appears to help. I have been able to shave for a week using a single blade. That brings the cost down a bit and makes it more practical. If you buy this razor and the Razor Pit to clean the razor blade then it makes this a good buy. With this setup I give the razor a 4 star rating. It really is a great smooth and very close shave.

UPDATE 12-2-20 RAZOR HEAD BROKEN - My first and last razor - easy to use
UPDATE 12-2-20:Everything was going great until the razor head just snapped off. The plastic piece holding the straight razor in place broke and was not repairable. It broke with no force and during normal operation. The head is supposed to be a unibody construction, this was certainly not. Maybe these aren't genuine? Great razor, buy from reliable source.I've kept a full, thick, burly beard for 12 years now, and used trimmers to line it up. I needed to shave for work, and thus had to buy my first razor. I hate the idea of being locked into a cartridge razor, paying insane prices for mediocre shaves. I knew I wanted a straight razor style shaver, and OneBlade was wirecutter recommended. My biggest concern was accidently cutting myself and apprehensively started my first shave. Any concerns were immediately alleviated. I don't think I could cut myself if I tried! The key is OneBlade's ingenious pivoting head.Build: The OneBlade Core has a stainless steel handle wrapped in hard plastic, a very appropriate weight, length, and grip. It felt solid and well crafted. The pivoting head is all hard plastic.Head: The hybrid between a rigid straight razor and pivoting cartridge head is perfect. Guards on the pivoting head hold the razor at a perfect angle, preventing you from pressing into your face, or cutting yourself parallel to the blade. I started shaving hesitantly, and by the end, was zipping around. I easily shaved my jaw. chin, and mustache.Overall impression: This razor delivers the closest shave I have ever seen, and without leaving any irritation. The included extra stiff feather blades are what allowed the shave to be so close to my skin. I was pushing relatively hard and did not cut myself. As darker skinned, I was worried about razor bumps and burns. In the end, I was only left with an amazingly smooth shave and ZERO irritation. What more could I ask for?A perfect razor for regular use. I intend to stick with it.
