Giovanni Hidalgo -- Conga Virtuoso: Spanish, English Language Edition (DVD)

It was advertised as a Giovanni Hidalgo Virtuoso but what I got was Diego Gale, Percusivo. I'll keep it but shouldn't false advertise.

Warning note that Giovanni is left handed (zurdo or citeog), most patterns will mirror for right handers.Covered are 2-3 v's 3-2 Clave, using Bass, 2 Tumbadoras, Fast Tempos, Timbales & Bongos (and their patterns), 3 Tumbadoras, Development of Improvisation, Puerto Rico Styles (Jibaro, Cuas/Kata, Plena, Bomba, Xica, Cuembe, 6/8 Juba de Louza, Holandes) and exercises (section 8.).There is an excellent accompanying pamphlet and sheet music.Also, a Health Warning, the additional feature showing Giovanni Hidalgo and Changuito on Congas 'De Plutinio a Martes' is an addictive version of CRAIC after four hearings,(Ceoil-music, Rince-dance, Amhranaiocht-singing Is-and Caint-chat).A Genuine Class of it's own from a Genius of the Congas (Cnageracht - Percussion in Gaelic).

This video is mostly dedicated to advanced conga-players. Beside developing the Tumbao and traditional Puertorican rhythms (beginners,intermediates) Giovanni introduces new rudiments on congas taken from the drumset (doublestroke, floating hands, ruff...) for advanced players. BIG thanks to Giovanni for bringing this killer-message to percussionists!

Boundless enthusiasum & spiritual connection to his musical roots,although at times he can bea little too Advanced for my musical abuilitys but great to watch him play!
