if you are replacing your thermostat, most likely you have swiss cheese for a wall behind it. i patch every time i put in a new one, and this time it looked like one of them had enough. this allows you to place screws farther from the hole and really secure the device. besides it just looks better and keeps the wall clean

I got this cover plate to keep the drafty air (coming from between the wall) from seeping out around my thermostat. That air was causing my thermostat to have an inaccurate reading of the overall room temperature. The cover has worked perfectly, and it looks great!! A perfect, inexpensive alternative to the name brand.

Perfect fit

This was a great backplate for the T9. One of the backplates that I received had one of the 3 locking pieces broken off, however, it still looked like it would be usable and felt solid. I had to return the product due to the T9 thermostat not being compatible with my HVAC system.

I had to replace several Nest thermostats with Amazon branded ones and found that the old thermostats were mounted to junction boxes. The OEM branded junction box adapter and cover plate were more than double the cost of this brand. If it was metal like the Nest version, it may be worth it but since it is all plastic this brand is a worthwhile alternative. I install all four with no problem. Also, the size is as wide as the Nest wall plate but also a square so it covers more area (see photo). I was a bit concerned at first if it was smaller as the wall was painted recently. Lucky, it is a tad bigger so no need to re-paint.One issue that since this uses tabs to hold the thermostat that the wiring unit can be pulled off this mount. The default installation method would have used screws to hold the wiring unit to the drywall or wall cover. However, this design is the same in the OEM junction box adapter so I can't fault this product. It would be a nice improvement if it allowed for screws though.
