Solid and sturdy
I somehow misplaced my other one so this is a replacement. It is sturdy and fits well in the hand. I haven’t had any of the problems reviewers have had.

A "must have" tool for every household
Most cutting tools that use a razor blade are just plain "box cutters". But this FatMax takes it to a "nice hand tool" level and everyone should have one of these in their house as the "Go To" tool when opening boxes or cartons or breaking down cardboard for recycling -- essentially anything you need to cut but would rather not use your good kitchen carving knives. Cardboard and pasteboard will dull a very sharp kitchen knife quicker than you might think and The FatMax takes all the worry from those chores. If it gets dull just dispose of the dull blade and insert a new one and you are good to go.

Sticks when trying to advance blade
Terrible product. When pushing the blade advance button the blade carriage would rock in it's track in the knife body and lose it's tracking. As a result the tip of the blade would jam on the inside edge of the blade opening of the knife body. You have to push and wiggle around the button and/or push it back and forth to get the blade to advance. Over all resulting a delay in using the knife as intended. In simple terms, you have to mess with it to get it to work. I eventually took it apart and filed a section of the body to make a sort of ramp so the tip of the blade wouldn't jam while trying to advance the blade. That somewhat fixed the issue. Now instead of the blade being jammed 90% of the time it jams 30% of the time. I think the noob designer(s) of this product needs a through dress down. Perhaps Stanley has lost sight of who they are and the principles they were founded on. It seems to me they have designers working for them that are more into having a product look "cool" then one that functions reliably. I suggest Stanley start making it mandatory that their designers actually be experienced in utilizing the tools they are tasked with designing. Because I feel it's evident the team that worked on this knife have been wrongfully collecting a check from Stanley under the false pretenses that they had any talent, common sense, or understanding of tool and die making.

Love these blades!
I'm a huge fan of these blades. This is an update to their original silver model and, thankfully, is an update without one of those 'crap, why did they remove that' feelings.I love these because the blades are sooo easy to change. I can't stand a dull blade and having to stop and unscrew them to change this is simply annoying. Here, a quick press and you can reverse the bald or swap in a new one.I also like the grip and the built in blade holder.I purchased three of these and did run into a quality control issue on one of them. Removing the blade was very difficult and I couldn't insert a new one. I took it apart to see if I could fix it - the frame that holds the blade was just a bit too tight to let it slide past and lock in. I tried prying it wider but finally just game up and toss the bad one.I'm hoping this is just a glitch and not something that has happened in redesign. I've given these gifts in the past - gone through probably six of them with out a bad one (the older style).
