After the chemical incident in Ohio we decided to take precautions and order multiple RO systems.At the time of purchase there were no reviews and decided to take a chance to have a back up, countertop system in my office I can use. Also we had a 3 month old at the time and to have safe clean water was a must have.The U1 is very impressive to have cold, hot, hydrogen and UV sanitized water. The water does get really cold and instant hot water too. Pretty amazing tech to house in a small device. The system is a countertop device so the flow rate is slow. Managing expectations for such a small unit that provides a lot of features.The system when it works (will get to that later) is the best and I have both a Waterdrop and Frizzlife systems.Testing the TDS/PPM this was more accurate and true compared to my other systems... I measure roughly 30-40 ppm when the tap is at 350ppm. Also my tap water reaks of chlorine and the U1 provides the cleanest water I have albeit a bit slow compared to an under sink system.As for issues… this is a 1st gen product and have my fair share of troubles. Tried to troubleshoot and fix on my own because I am stubborn. Finally I gave in and contacted customer support. They were very quick to respond and polite. I am going through a similar problem with my Frizzlife GD1000 at the same time and this experience with RKIN is has been better than the latter and is why I am leaving it with 5 stars.Features: 5/5Ease of use: 5/5Reliability: 2/5Service: 5/5Overall this is a 8.5/10I am excited to see the future generation or models. I purchased the U1 system from Amazon in March 2023, drawn to its user-friendly interface and the simplicity involved in changing the replacement filters. Unfortunately, the filter notification feature on the device did not function as intended. In July 2025, I ordered and replaced all three filters, but after installation, the appliance failed to filter water. Believing that an airlock might be the issue, I reverted to the old filters, yet the appliance still did not filter and displayed an "E1" error code. After discussing the troubleshooting process with Arnold, a technician from RKIN, through both phone and email, the appliance remained inoperative. It is also important to mention that the hydrogen module requires a specific tool, which is sold separately on the RKIN website. A search for the terms "U1 not filtering" or "no water" indicates that this issue is quite common. Therefore, if you are concerned about the water quality for you and your family, as well as the environmental impact of plastic waste, I would recommend against purchasing this appliance.

I’ve had the U1 for about two months now and I really love it! This is my first experience with RO water so I had to get used to things like emptying waste water and the taste (I think chlorine taste is what I was used to previously with tap water). Our family enjoys the taste now. I’m glad it remineralizes because I think that helps with taste as well. We love the features for hot water which work great. I would definitely buy this again.

Want it, frankly? The pros: this water filtering system is high-tech, looks cool, has many different serving options, works fast and not loud, and makes good-tasting water. Contras: it is expensive, and like a mammogram machine, it was probably designed by big, strong men. It is bulky and needs a turning table under it, and a family of four has to fill the water container three times a day. If the system sits on the kitchen countertop, short or older adults can’t lift the container because the handle becomes 4.7 feet up from the floor. Suggestion: before buying it, measure your under-cabinet space; we had to move the cabinet higher because it didn’t fit. Good and healthy luck!

Was not working for me properly

Been using for a week! After speaking with Arnold, we have a better idea of how to care care for our machine and truly love the water that comes out of it.Arnold was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure that I understood the rinse cycle process, and walked me through the procedures. Arnold also addressed my concerns about the water tasting bitter, which we solved by doing rinse cycle another way and testing compared to the hydrogen.Arnold truly went to Buff and beyond, spending over 45 minutes with me answering questions about the filters, the temperature which was 10° off, and the proper care and maintenance for hard water. I was about to return the machine, but because of Arnold we are happy customers! Thanks again!!!

Good product until the warranty expired. Now it keeps leaking a lot of water from inside. I can’t even disassemble it to identify the leak source. Looks like the internal line was damaged. Waste of almost one grand.

Somehow this machine makes water cold! No clue how, but it’s cold!!! Perfect for my office.Also dispenses hot water for tea. Filling and dumping the discard water is simple. Just make sure not to put it up against a wall or under a cupboard since you need to access the back.
