Could someone let me know how you'd download music onto this device? What app is used to get the music you'd like to download

There is no app to do this for you. You need to separately download the music onto a computer, then use the included USB cable to plug the MP3 player into the computer. You will then copy the music you downloaded to the folder of the MP3 player on your computer.

My child trigged some sort of lock, stopping the ability of any button being pressed. How do I unlock the buttons?

Sorry for the problem, just press and hold the "menu" key for a long time to unlock it.

does this product have the ability to have multiple playlists/folders??

No, I had to load music on an SD card from my computer and put in in the bottom of the player. It does not come with an SD card.
