Product Description Hello again... this series definitely walks the fine line between madness and genius. Dizzying in its detachment to reality and flashing with the bright colors of childhood, Shaye & Kiki is impossible to describe. Midget? A cross-dressing contortionist? Yikes, I don Review What on Earth is Shaye St. John After perusing the DVD last night, I'm still not completely sure I can answer that question properly. This DVD contains thirty-one Triggers in total. Most are quite horrifying despite the absence of any supernatural elements (aside from Kiki s powers), monsters, violence, blood or gore. While not horror material in the traditional sense, the live action/stop motion animation and puppeteering in these clips is intentionally disturbing and quite successful at getting under your skin. When Shaye freaks out because she s in the washroom and Kiki is smashing itself into the window repeatedly, it s pretty creepy, even if you don t really know why any of it is happening or how, for that matter. It s all very strange and I don t understand this material. I m not entirely sure if it's some sort of evil genius. I will say this though, it held my attention and I had no problem getting through the material in one sitting. This was just weird. Really, really weird. My mind is still reeling... I don t get it. But I want more. --Ian Jane, DVD TalkMost of the time spent watching "Shaye and Kiki," the first DVD release from Indican Pictures will leave most scratching their heads and reaching for a drink. Had someone misinformed me that this film was a three-way collaboration between aliens, John Waters, and a homeless guy in South Central, I would have accepted that premise immediately without need or want of an explanation. Saint John, who co-wrote "Shaye and Kiki" with Fournier, is a mask wearing quadriplegic, and stars as the central character (Shaye). Rounding out her overall creepy appearance, Shaye has creepy wooden extremities that basically function as set pieces, clumsily allowing her to do things like shave her legs, surf the Internet, and slap fellow characters. A brief sampling: Shaye feeds a stray cat Cheerios; Shaye attempts to enhance the appearance of her nine-year-old friend Kiki (a doll with a charred face that appears several times in the film, often decapitated) with makeup; Shaye distresses because Kiki auditions for a movie and must take her "bottoms off" to get the role; Shaye does a public service announcement about fireworks where her friend, Sandy, catches fire; and so on. What is not in dispute is that the creators audaciously blur the line between actual filmmaking and experimentation...there are hints of self-parody and satire but is the "Shaye" from the movie really Saint John's alter ego, a mocking caricature of someone else, or even an out of work gas station attendant on a harrowing acid trip? Over the arc of 30 brief encounters, Saint John reveals herself as a casually amusing, yet obviously unhinged, pre-Madonna; a more intelligent yet equally self-absorbed (and, of course, limbless) Anna Nichole Smith. --Donnie Saxton, Beyond HollywoodA fine line between madness and genius here, dizzying in its detachment to reality and flashing with the bright colors of childhood. Impossible to describe. --Candy for Bad Children.com

Brilliant & Terrifying
If you're one of those horror fans who always feels let down at the end of a scary movie because it just wasn't intense enough, this is the DVD for you.Imagine taking acid and playing an old Barbara Streisand LP on 45 while eight friends stand around you in a circle wearing clown masks, twirling around in circles, and screaming at the top of their lungs. Now imagine doing all of that under a strobe light with a police siren going off in the background, and you're still not even close to touching the level of insanity that is Shaye Saint John.

Could make your day or ruin your night
I bought this looking for bizarre entertainment and it certainly delivered the first of those two criteria. It is great for both starting and ending conversations with house guests. As bizarre as this DVD is, I can't watch it as entertainment. This is why I give it 3 stars.

Wonderfully Annoying!
If you ever have guests at your house and you want them to leave, put this on. They will leave immediately and never come back, especially if you tell them that this is perhaps the greatest video artist working today. At Halloween, I like to play it on a monitor in my window. No one comes near the door. This video will also help you rid your home of rats, mice, squirrels, gophers, badgers, capybaras, Republicans, and other vermin.Highly recommended.

HELLO AGAIN!
Hello again! This is the Shaye Saint John DVD. Don't buy it unless you know what you're in for. The only reason you should be reading this review is because you are already GOING to buy it.Will also mention that most (but not all) of the shorts on this DVD can be found online, but at least you're watching it at the highest "quality" that is possibly available.

you really can't live without it
having enjoyed some of these videos online, i ordered this the moment i realized it was available. it's not for everyone, but shaye saint john was a very special genius. the menus on the dvd are extremely aggravating to use, and it doesn't seem to contain ALL of the videos i've seen online, but if you're even looking at this page, you need to just do yourself a favor and order it...
