Better than other brands, worth the little extra.
Great stand for tenor sax and a perfectly adequate one for alto sax. I've tried a number of different stands for saxes over the years and I have found the Hercules brand to be the best. It's a sturdy construction and the sax feels secure, it folds down small and compact too so is easy to pack away. All the clips and buttons are easy to move yet secure enough to feel safe. This stand does fare better with a tenor sax than with an alto, the bell support needs to cater for both so feels a little large for the alto and the supporting ledge needs to be moved higher when storing the smaller instrument. Generally this is no problem however it can be a bitt fiddly to get it to lock into position on occasion. I have been using Hercules stands in pit orchestras for a while now and have been very pleased with them, I have found that most other wind players also use these stands and have similar experiences. In general they are a little bit more expensive than other brands however the little extra is definitely worth investing.

Saxes are expensive. This isn't, and it'll save nasty accidents.
Even a cheap saxophone costs a few hundred pounds, and not having a stand is a false economy. Trust me, one dropped sax is going to cost much more than this stand! There's a define hierarchy of stands, and the Hercules is toward the top. I have some other, cheaper stands and whilst they do the job, when I wanted one for a vintage alto I went for the Hercules. It's heavier, tougher, and even comes with a carry bag, which is actually really practical. Even the feet are better on the Hercules! If you're in the market for a stand, get this one. You won't be disappointed. If you don't think you need a stand, can I suggest you sell your sax and buy a recorder? Because you'll either drop your instrument (disaster) or leave it in the case and not play it (criminal offence). The final bonus with the Hercules is the characteristic yellow hinge. It clearly identifies your stand amongst the cheaper ones!

Super sturdy stand, but...
This was bought for my son's alto sax. The Hercules brand was one I've heard of ith devent reputation over the years and the Amazon reviews confirmed that it was a solid product so paid the couple of pounds more for it.The saxophone is a loaner instrument so I especially didn't want something that would fall to pieces, but would have it ready to play and keep him practicing.Everything clicks positively into place, and then folds down to a compact size. It even has a decent bag, for those occasions where you may want to take it with you. There is a rest for the bottom of the sax which can be moved up or down to accommodate the smaller/larger alto/tenor size. One small gripe is the size of the bell holder, also mentioned by others. It looks perfect for a tenor but it a bit loose for the smaller alto sax so care has to be taken when putting it down. Perhaps bending the arms or adding a thicker padding might help. So far, after a month or two, there have been no incidents, but it is a slight concern.

A superb stand
I had to replace my old Sax Stand. I have a tenor stand which is foldable for Gigs, but is heavy, my Alto stand has had it. there is tape all over it.I have a Hercules Music stand which is very good, so I bought their Sax Stand, it is superb, very well made, strong, and folds up small and is very easy and quick fold and put in it’s bag. Very important to get to the Pub after the gig.

This Sax Stand is the Best I've Had
I was looking for a replacement for my tenor saxophone stand. My previous one was an old one which I had for years. I was recommended this product by a fellow saxophonist. I did my research and from this, I was satisfied to purchase this saxophone stand. After removing this product from its box, I discovered that it was actually folded. There is also a nice yellow Hercules bag which comes with the sax stand. So when you fold away your stand, it can be placed in the bag for next time. Anyhow, there are pressure points which you hold when unfolding or folding each component. There is a total of four movements to extend the sax stand. It is very simple and you don't need to be an engineer to know how to unfold your sax stand. When I place my tenor saxophone on this stand, I feel confident that the saxophone is not going to fall off or slide away. It is held into place quite securely and even if you jiggle your saxophone a little while it is in the stand, it is likely to stay there. I always feel unnerving when I see people brush aside my saxophone in its stand but it is always secure. It is easy to lift out of the stand as well. This is definitely one item that you need to consider purchasing if you play outside at gigs or with an orchestra. It will save you putting you saxophone in the case and taking it out every few moments. For an item which is less than £25, you can't say no!

Great Stand
Well I looked at some of the other stands on the market and nearly went for one of them as they were cheaper. In the end though I bought this one and I'm glad I did, it really is a great stand and some thought has gone into its design. The best bit is that it all folds away into itself so you end up with a neat bundle. All the folding parts have locking buttons which you simply push in to allow the arms to fold back. All the parts that contact with your sax have decent high density foam which give protection. It even came with a carry bag. This product was only a little bit more expensive than the others, it is definately worth paying that little bit extra.
