Looks like there is an adapter for this lens. I have eos 6d and it fits. Best check is the canon webpage where they have a "which lens fits which camera" I used that as my concern was not all lenses suit a full frame, this lens does both.

Has anyone used this lens for macro photography with insects etc?

I think the minimum focus distance of roughly 45cm is a bit far for insects. Canon do a nice 60mm macro which also works quite well as a portrait lens.
