Fantastic quality Grohe basin tap
There are taps and there are Grohe taps. There's a reason why they are more expensive than others because they are solidly built and designed to last for years. I bought this Grohe BauEdge single lever basin tap to replace a similar looking but poor quality tap installed in my new build home.As many others have pointed out and as is clearly stated in the listing, this tap has pre-fitted Euro sized tail ends and so existing pipework may require appropriate fittings if converting from UK spec fittings. As I have isolation valves fitted to my pipework, the job was straightforward enough. I purchased a pair of 15mm to 3/8 copper tails from my local hardware store for less than a fiver. If you're doing it the way I did it, you will also need new 15mm compression nuts and olives for attaching the tail end fittings to the isolation valves. You may also need some PTFE tape to ensure a watertight fit. There are conversion fittings available from Amazon but they wouldn't have been suitable for my existing isolation valves unless I was prepared to buy a length of copper piping, which I wasn't.I also purchased the Grohe Concerto base plate which has ensured a neat and watertight seal into the basin hole. Not only that, the tap looks better in my opinion with the chrome decking plate. This is a good quality tap at an affordable price and it looks great. It's easy to clean too.

Lovely tap but extras needed for UK fitment
I purchased this Grohe basin tap firstly because of the relatively low price for a branded tap, and secondly because I liked the style, although my wife wasn’t convinced based on the pictures as it looked very tapered, but the tapering is a lot more minimal in reality.I did have concerns about reviews that said the tab was to small for UK basin holes, but thought I would give it a go being it’s distributed by Amazon, so I could return easily. These review were indeed correct for the basin I have...it’s just a couple of millimetres too small. However, I really like the tap, so I started looking into how it could be adapted. I found a Grohe base plate on Amazon (pictured) that makes this tap work on UK sized holes. Downside is the additional cost of £14.If you do go ahead with buying this (and I do recommend it), you will likely need to purchase 2 x 15mm to 12mm reducing compression joints (also pictured), as the Flexi feeds are euro spec. These cost me a couple of pounds from a plumbers merchant.Worth noting that this tap requires a balanced water system, and pressure above 1 bar. I have a combination boiler with very good water pressure, so it works well. Unbalanced systems will require a non-return valve on the hot water feed (additional cost).I will be purchasing another soon to replace a Bristan tap that is extremely noisy due to my good water pressure.

Installation issues
The mixer tap is well made but is designed for a 34 mm diameter hole in the basin. I didn't know the hole diameter of my basin until I had removed the old tap, which was when I had received the new one and was ready to fit it. My basin hole was 30 mm which was too small for the 33.5 mm diameter step in the mating flange of the new tap. Although the supply pipes and fixing stud easily passed through the 30 mm hole, the step on the flange was unable to locate into the hole, as it was designed for a hole 4 mm larger. The solution was to carefully grind a 2 mm deep, 2 mm wide step around the edge of the hole with a Dremel using a green button stone. Although the basin is glazed ceramic, the Dremel was able to cut through the glazing to the earthenware underneath. It took a while but the new mixer then fitted perfectly. There is an O-ring which fits into a groove on the flange which mates with the glazed surface surrounding the hole. The fixing nut is 13 mm AF. It's just possible to get a ring spanner on it but it would have been much easier with a 13 mm tube spanner (or deep socket).Another thing to watch is the supply flex hoses which have 3/8" connectors not 1/2". I subsequently bought a pair of 3/8" - 15mm tap connector tail pieces from my local Toolstation which fitted into the existing isolating valves.

High quality with a sturdy feel
Grohe is my go to tap of choice for bathroom sinks. They all require a male compression fitting from metric to imperial so make sure you get two of those to fit, it's 15mm x 3/8" (you can get them at plumbing supplies or on Amazon..) so they can be fitted to UK pipes. The tap's lever has a nice feel, super easy to use and the water comes out all bubbly just like in hotels or areas with soft water (I'm in a city with hard water yet with this tap the water feels soft). This is also the best price online, £39 for German quality that makes a big change to a bathroom. It looks smart and feels good to use. Something so basic but done right.

So far so good!!
Decided to pay more for a quality tap.... so went for this GROHE BauEdge. I fitted it to an Ikea bathroom sink, and as the tap hole is on the large side.... I ordered the additional base, but I ended up having to modify the rubber seal so that it fitted the GROHE BauEdge. I also ordered the adaptors for the tails.... and this meant I had to add a small length of 15mm copper pipe so I could attach the adaptors to my isolator valves. As I had some spare copper and some spare 15mm compression fittings... (and the know how!) ...this was all very easy and straight forward. The tap seems very high quality. The tap controls water flow precisely ... and I just hope it lasts!!

Get a compression adaptor connector for UK fittings
Good price, nice style, easy to fit. Needs 3/8 to 1/2” compression adaptor for typical UK fittings
