Update: yes it does work without wifi so it can be taken on the go. Only you cannot download new tonies without the wifi connectionDo yourself a favor and BYPASS setting up on the app. That does NOT work. We set it up with the laptop and it was connected in about 2 minutes. When you setup on the laptop they will tell you that you have to find the specific tonies "wifi" network. That is probably why it never worked with setting up on the app. They don't tell you that in any of the instructions on the app. Now that it's setup the kiddo loves it. The characters are so cute that they keep taking them to play with! It's so simple to use and setup new characters. Just pop them on or off and you are good to go. Child can easily turn the volume up and down. Will have to go into settings because they want to skip certain stories and songs and we haven't figured that part out. We haven't been out of wifi range with it so I don't know if it will play without wifi or not while we travel. But you can buy headphones (they sell one) to connect to it so your child can just listen to it alone. You can either leave it plugged in on the dock or once its charged take it off so the child can take it around the house. The sides are soft and padded. A great screen free device to have and if you wait for prime or black friday you can get it for an amazing price. Definitely a great gift to give whether it's a birthday holiday or just because.

This is such a great product for littles. It is so easy to use and has such great quality. We did one for all of the grandchildren under 5 and everyone enjoys it.

My toddler and I love the tonie box! He listens to it daily and loves collecting the characters. It was easy to set up. Great sound quality and worth every penny!

We use it every night, I have listed to chase so often I am creating my own fan theories, toddlers love repeat stories. I have never tried it without internet, so I cannot say it works well or not there but since my kid loves it for bed time it is worth it. Only downside is the little figures take up a large amount of space.

My 3yr old LOVES her Tonie box. She dances to the songs and listens to the stories. Great break from screen time. The Tonies are cute and fun to collect. It’s a nice size and weight for her. I love that you can control the volume!!!

This thing is the bomb!! It keeps my kids entertained for so long and my 2year old 3 year old and 4 year old all can use it without my help. I like to give it to them when I’m cooking dinner and it keeps the busy the whole time!!
