Magma Products, A10-367 Gourmet Nesting Stainless Steel Colander One

The stainless steel nesting colander is great fit/finish, and looks like it will last a while. The only fly in the ointment for me is that putting the nesting colander into my set of Magma Products pans increased the overall height of the set by less than an inch, but just enough so that the set does not fit into my cook box. The fix for me is simple - I'll store the pans without the colander nested inside, and I'll store the colander separately in the cook box with other things nested inside of it. The colander was the only nesting component that increased the overall height of the set of nesting pans.

Fits perfectly inside the nested set and is made quite well. The handle folds down into the recessed rim and out of the way completely yet has a tab formed into it that makes grabbing it very easy. Very high quality. If I was designing a colander that you could use for a lifetime, I could not think of any improvements.

We are full time travelers exploring North America since 2/17 (3 years and 100,000 miles thus far). This is the only way to go. Made of stainless steel that is easy to clean and care for. Nestles one inside the other for max storage space utilization. Pads provided so travel vibrations do not rub and scar the finish. Thick laminated bottoms of the pots, pans, and skillets evenly distributes heat. Sized to meet nearly all the needs of cooking for 2-4 people. (needed a bigger sauce pot for Sous Vide). In 3 years have never wanted an additional sauce pan. Handles work as advertised for the pans too. VERY SATISFIED. Use this primarily to steam veggies or drain pasta. Great Magma product.

If you need a colander don't hesitate. Perfect fit with the quality Magma nesting pans. Using it in our RV. Took forever to get this however. Had to cancel and order again. Worth the wait!

I have had the Magma 10 piece stackable pot/pan set for a while now. After having wished I had brought a colander camping with us, I checked and found that there was available as an add on for this set. Great! Stacks and Nestles right in! Can't wait to use it to steam some veggies or other items, and use it to cook and strain pasta!Update: 10/17/2017 After having using this colander for a while, I would like to revise my opinion, and drop one star. While I still like the product, I have issues. It does work great for steaming anything, and it works great alone as a colander for straining/draining items. However, when used to boil more water than required for steaming, there lie my concerns. You cannot fill your large pot with water any higher than the first row of holes on the colander side. If you do, when the water boils it will definitely bubble out over the lip/edge of the pot. This I believe is because the colander is so close to the pot side. As the bubbles expand, they literally erupt up the sides as it boils. Because of this, you are limited in the amount of foods that you can "load" into the colander for boiling. About 1/2 of what I had thought. Secondly, when boiling pasta, one of the actions that you want is for the rolling boil to continually "stir" the pasta. This does not occur at all with the colander in place. Once again, as the colander is so close to the pot bottom and sides, any boil bubbles go out and up the sides. None seem to come through the bottom holes to stir the pasta, at least not when any pasta is in the colander. I have tried spaghetti, macaroni, twists, and shells so far, and it is the same.

I bought this for our new motorhome, which has limited storage. I knew I wanted a decent colander for pasta, etc., but I didn't want either a collapsible one or one that would take up any room--this fits the bill exactly, because it nests with my Magma pots set purchased at the same time. Like all Magma products, it's sturdy and well made.

Another great accessory I bought to go with our Magma nesting cookware set. This is terrific for pasta, boiled potatoes, corn, really anything you want to boil and then be able to remove and drain quickly and easily. Well made, and it fits in with the rest of our set making for a very compact storage.

I got the whole magma set and so had to get this as well. Super quality and will last a very long time. We have used it twice now to cook spaghetti and the broccoli and it performed perfectly.
