Cheap fit and finish doomed this -- an incredible disappointment.
I have a small yard and a fantasy of having a small leaf sucker/blower to blow the leaves in a pile and vacuum them up, them dump them in our hard waste. It's powerful (sucking or blowing). Light enough to be used easily. Here's the problem: the leaf collecting bag (when you're vacuuming them up) is attached with a little plastic cylinder. One presses a button on the unit to drop the bag off. I've used it a total of three times over the past 3 months. From the start, the bag would stick -- I don't know if it's a problem with the button, or some extra piece of plastic somewhere is getting hung up, but it would take a minute of fidgeting with it to get the bag to finally release. It got progressively worse. Today, on the third use, the thing finally refused to come off. I'm fairly mechanically handy and I spent about 10 minutes trying both mechanical and force-based approaches to get it off -- no luck. Then my wife, who has a degree in both Mechanical Engineering and Rocket Science (astronautics and aeronautics), and who has designed and built and fixed thousands of pieces of equipment, spent 10 minutes working on it -- literally just trying to get the plastic sleeve to release when one presses the release button -- but it's locked on there. With that plastic sleeve locked on, it can't be used as a blower (the blower attachment goes there), and without the ability to remove and empty the leaf bag, the utility of the unit is zero.Quite literally, this design flaw (or manufacturing flaw if it's a problem with fit and finish work) has rendered the unit unusuable after about 3 hours worth of use.Incredibly disappointing, but please save yourself this frustration and don't buy this.

BEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET!
this tool has changed our lives! I can't believe they finally developed this! I've been wishing for this forever! Believe it or not, we used to drag our shop vac around the yard to suck the leaves out of the shrubs because instead of mulch we use pine straw and it is impossible to blow the leaves out of the shrubs and away from the shrubs without having the pine straw just fly up in the air everywhere. Mulch is way too heavy and time consuming to use over a large area however, not so easy to get leaves out of. Fall/spring clean up every year was a nightmare and we couldn't even hire anyone to do it because nobody would deal with it. So, we literally used to have to drag the shop vac around and empty the damn thing every 5 minutes and it would clog and was a nightmare. This came in yesterday and my husband did the entire yard in 8 hours (versus multiple weekends) the unit never clogged once and although he did have to empty the bag, it is very easy and fast. We did also purchase the attachment hose for the trash can but that was a disaster. Not sure who did the R&D for that component but I seriously question if they actually even used it in real life because that was a joke unfortunately. Regardless, of the fact that we wish the bag were somehow capable of holding more, it is adequate and the tool is quite powerful and appears to be well made and well thought out and certainly worth the price!

WORTH EVERY PENNY
I am a 50 yo woman who takes care of her own yard. Mostly the leaves from all the trees, as I have gravel for grass. The trees shed an incredible amount of leaves everyday! This blower/vac/mulcher does a phenominal job of blowing the clumps where I need them to go, and more importantly- sucks up those leaves (and pretty much leaves my gravel alone) and grinds them up so I can add them to my compost pile! It makes wonderful work of making a TON of extra space in my trash cans if I decide to throw them away. The bag does fill up relatively quickly, but I dont mind. I would recommend ordering extra bags incase your 1 bag rips or falls apart.

Its heavy!
I only use it as a vacuum and mulch, sucking up leaves. I don't use the bag that came with it because I also bought the trash can attachment, blowing the leaves directly into the can. I gave this only 3 stars because I have cursed it a few times while using it. The vacuum tube dose not stay on very well, and when it falls off, your pile of leaves are blown all over the place. I am a 70 year old woman and this thing weighs a good 10 lbs. Imagine carrying around a 10 lb sack of potatoes, aiming it in a downward position! Gets heavy in a hurry. I secured my trash can to a dolly so I could move it around easier, but because of the size and weight of the blower, it is still pretty awkward. It does do the job of sucking up and mulching your leaves. The mulching blade seems to be pretty solid and made of a metal material, not plastic. Over all, if mulching the leaves is your main desire and you are able to handle the weight, I would recommend this except for seniors.

Only wanted it as a mulcher for leaves in the fall, was well worth it
I already have a good battery powered leaf blower, but after making a huge pile of leaves it was no fun bagging them up and hauling them to my front yard for collection. We have so many trees that just leaving them as is will kill the grass in the spring, so after some research I decided to try this as a way to mulch the leaves. Worked really well, you have to go fairly slow or it'll plug a bit, but even on a cold Fall day with semi-wet leaves it was able to work through a few big piles in way less time than it took to bag them, and much easier also. The bag fills up fast when you are doing a large amount, but even just considering the time and effort it saved last year it was a good purchase for those who have a ton of leaves and struggle to keep up with bagging them (we had already did 20 full bags before I broke down and bought this, it would have been 30 more but they got mulched instead).

It Really Sucks
With everything rated 4 stars you'd think I was just being lazy, but thats not the case. I bought this product over others because of its good ratings, metal impeller and brand recognition, although B&D sometimes isn't the best bang for the buck. I also bought it to vacuum up leaves rather than just blow them around. Blowing them around doesn't make them go away. The motor is variable speed. Perhaps its of value in blowing, but as a vacuum I run it full speed anyway. The unit assembles without tools and it can be modified or reconfigured without tools. The collection bag is big enough but not too big to be too heavy. I've yet to have it jam, so I know it will chew up small branches. I'm of average height and I think I'd want the vacuum tube maybe 3" longer. As it is, its OK to use but its use does affect your posture. Connecting your extension cord to it can be frustrating. There is a "sweet spot" where it connects just fine. This is not unique to this unit, but I've fiddled with it for over 5 minutes to make a connection. In action, it slurps up leaves pretty good and the collection bag is easy to unload. I don't know how it works on wet leaves. Thats something I think I'd avoid doing anyway. Seems to me a good way to trash the collection bag through mold. As a lawn vacuum it works well - it will slurp up leaves without the tube directly on them. Suction power is good. Indications are its a cost effective unit for what I need it to do. Being a B&D I assume parts are not an issue for years to come. Yeah.... I'm happy with what it does and how it does it.
