It actually does fit the standard garden hose. It also fit the 1/4 drip line just fine. I do wish this design would come in a lead free brass though. I am worried if accidentally bump into this that I will break it so I did buy extras to be sure. If you would like to see these at work go to "The Naked Bud" on you tube.

I used these to connect my 1/4 drip lines to the risers of 3/4 buried pvc system. They hold the tubing will, though I also used stainless clamps just in case. They appear will made and are simple ro install. I used singles and doubles as needed and also included hose splitters where needed to adjust different flows.

Love how tight the ¼” fitting is. Best one I’ve seen.

Installed quick to hose connection and allowed direct connection to drip irrigation. Support of barb appears sturdy enough upon first look and did pass field test of pushing on the stiff black drip irrigation line to each utilized.

Got this to use with another drip irrigation kit. having two outlets allows more flow/pressure to the nozzles, allowing more of them to be on one water timer outlet

does not fit garden hose threads

This is a wonderful system. Before I put this in, I could never keep nice flowers on my front porch. Now they bloom beautifully all summer long.

Bought these for a garden irrigation system and expected them to run off of a standard thread garden hose spigot but they do not fit.Interestingly, each of them shipped with a separate green adapter (not pictured in the Amazon description) but if anything, it required an even smaller thread size.I took a picture of the male end of the green "adapter" which fits into the female end of the part itself, against a standard N/A garden spigot, you can easily see that the threads are different.
