Works well for this. Put on container lid and the. Connect hose to pump on the outer side and hose inside container. Airtight works well.

Purchased items in conjunction with Power Steering Fluid replacement. Set tubes into container to capture expelled P/S fluid. Fitting perfectly fit P/S fluid line from car to create a sealed system.

They fit a little loose crack when I try tightening them

Is air tight in my application
You just have to be smarter than a plastic fitting. It must be assembled correctly. The small plastic shoulder on the fitting makes the seal. Metal washer and plastic nut is opposite the seal provided by the shoulder of the fitting.
