Q: Does it rust after sitting outside?

I bought mine in 2017 and its sat outside 365 days of each year since! I’m truly impressed how well it has held up. I’m just now considering a new one as the fabric shows signs of wear.

Q: When the canopy is not in use, does it detach or fold behind the chair?

Yes, it can be completely removed or simply folded behind

Q: Does this chair lock in a sitting position or only in recline? My mother is afraid that she might have a hard time getting out of the chair.

I'm sitting in the chair as I type this. The chair is in "lock" position so that I can recline a bit. Not sit straight up like you would in a regular chair and not lay completely flat, and it's slowly moving into the chair position. Once the chair moves to the chair position and I try to recline again, that's when the locks actually lock and I can't recline in it. The chair itself seems to be ok quality but the locks do not actually lock the way they're advertised to lock. All in all, I'm not exactly satisfied with this chair but I don't hate it either.
