I ordered 4000 sizes but I got 3000 sizes .... but I didn't send them back because I thought it was suitable for perch fishing. I have used it 5 times but I only give a medium rating because the joints are not accurate the brake is very good and the axle is of poor quality.

This is a very high quality reel for beginners. My old reel broke so I bought this one. So far no issues been using it for quite a while now. The quality looks top notch also the finish is immaculate. This thing is 100% waterproof. Anyone looking for a good reliable reel should buy this and its great as a gift.

Very smooth casting and reeling. I haven’t caught any big fish yet, several 2-3 lb catfish, but works really well with what I’ve done so far.

I am an avid fisherman and angle mostly bass, crappie and bluegill, but river fish too. This reel has 13 + 1 ball bearings and provides a smooth action. It's not overly heavy and sits in about the right spot on the rod. Some that I have had sit too far forward and make me uncomfortable holding them (my usual hold is in between my index and middle fingers) and I have to move the hand placement of the reel in order for my index finger to reach the string for casting. I loaded this with 10LB test line (shown). I intended to load it with 12LB test, but did not have any like I thought I did. This comes with some braided line as a sample, I suppose. There's not enough line provided to do any fishing; not casting very far anyway. It casts easily (I tested in my yard). I have not gotten to actually use it fishing as of yet.The only thing I don't like about it is something that seems most or all reels have gone to over the years and that is the handle collapses on its own. I prefer the older type that have the handle that stays extended on its own. This one you have to make sure you hold it out while reeling and every once in a while, these collapse because you don't hold them just right. But, like I said, this is most or all newer reels now. All in all, for the $38 price tag (I received the 4400), it seems to be a decent reel. Time will tell if it holds up.UPDATE: 6/3/21: I wanted to update after being able to fish/field test this reel. I dropped 1 star due to the handle of the reel just seems out of balance and does not want to stay in the extended position without considerable, concentrated effort. One will have to train themselves to use this reel as opposed to the more natural feel of most reels. I am not a fan of these types of reel handles anyway, but this one just doesn't feel natural or right.

This reel has handled itself better than I expected. The drag is smooth, it handled fish with ease, it has an oversized handle, and it seems to be very well made. I'm an avid fisherman, and I take my equipment very seriously. I don't like using "cheap" reels, but I do like using cost-effective reels. This one is a cost-effective reel.I got the 3000 size for freshwater; anything larger than that, and you are most likely going to overdo it unless you're going for that monster musky way up north somewhere. I have found that this size is perfect for nearly all freshwater species, and I will continue using this reel as one of my go-to's for finesse fishing. This reel is definitely not professional quality, but it sure gets the job done for people like me. ;)
