Aquapac - Waterproof VHF Case - VHF Classic - Outdoors & Tough Conditions (Small)

I haven't tested this on the water yet, but appears perfect for keeping salt off of a Standard Horizon HX890 Marine VHF radio.It is flexible enough so that you can still flip up the tab that protects the Distress button on the back (see pics) without having to take the radio out of the case.

Works very well to protect a Standard Horizon HX280s. All controls/knobs work well through the case. The closure is just a tad wide to easily fit in the front radio pocket of a Kokatat Outfit Tour PFD but it does fit with a little work. The case solves the problem of the radio's speaker getting wet and damping sound. The radio volume is perfectly clear through the case.

The small size Aquapac case fits a Uniden Bearcat BC125AT scanner without issues. Attached to the radio is a Yaesu SRA-18A BNC Aviation VHF Antenna, which works much better for the air band than the factory antenna to the left. No issues so far while kayaking, where the case gets splashed substantially with salt water.

I ordered two small Aquapacs, but someone one was large and one was small. I try to set up a return, but to ship a new one was going to cost me a bunch more money so I decided to keep it for now. I wish this mistake wasn't made. If seller can reach out to replace the large with a small, I'll be happy to adjust the rating.These Aquapacs are a must-have for marine radios that we bring on our canoes and kayaks. It keeps the life of the radios but also keep the clarity of the communication. They are water tight and keeps the radios dry.

I have been using this for wing foiling and almost every session find some water in the bag - would not recommend

The material is good as is the craftsmanship. I can never really tell if I have a good seal until it leaks. Next time I will buy the dry bags that roll up to seal. For work, I put a waterproof walkie-talkie in the bag. They get wet almost everyday.
